Hey guys,

I'm relatively new here and have found this forum very helpful. You guys helped me with the tcc lock up mod and I moved my fsd from the intake to below the drivers side battery.

Just got done with a 1000 mile trip pulling my 7x16 trailer packed solid through the mountains of NM and CO in 90+ temps. At certain points I pushed her pretty hard and the temp stayed around 210 even with the fan clutch engaged. About 4-5 x's she cut out for a second like you just turned off the key but then just kept right on going. The cel never came on. It didn't seem to be related to engine temp. but seemed to happen when I was cruising on level terrain with less throttle. One time when this occurred the truck had noticeably less power so I pulled over checked things out under the hood and then towed in third for a while and it seemed fine after that. Other than this it performed really well pulling hills at 45-55 in 3rd no problem and man does that tcc mod help coming down the other side, I hardly had to use the brakes! Also when ambient temps decreased I noticed better performance and had no problems the last 200 miles when outside temps decreased. Every time this happened I thought for sure I'd be stranded and hoped it would never happen again.

Thanks for any suggestions into my mystery ,

Joe

I had the same problem. At highway speeds the motor would cut out momentarily and then restart. Eventually it started stalling at slower speeds. I probably cooked the PMD when towing a heavy trailer over hilly terrain at high outside temperatures.

A new remote mounted PMD seems to have been the solution. It hasn't stalled since.,

Thanks,

I have a new di tech pump driver to install when I get around to it. Although I have had no problems since with regular daily driving around town and on the highway.

Make sure the new one is mounted on a heatsink although they say it does not need to. Put it outside the engine with an extension.
