Does anyone use one of these? Sounds like a good idea but Ive never seen one used. Are these worth getting?

I had one on my camaro in the 90's, it sure seamed to help keep the fluid clean. Its now on my 93, I figured it cant hurt anything and it was sitting on the shelf. Also gave me an extra quart of capacity. Next time I change the filter I'm gonna go with a two quart or bigger filter instead of the one quart.

I have FS 2500's for trans fluid and engine oil on my Dodge. They don't make a trans kit for our chevies (I emailed Heath and asked). You could probably make one for a different vehicle work. There are less expensive kits out there but I went with the FS because it's designed to be mounted on the frame; it's built very solidly and I figured it could take a hit from a road hazard better than an exposed filter could.

I was told by the 25 yr experienced trans builder that rebuilt my 4l60E in my 93 C2500 not to run a filter in the cooler line because it causes too much restriction and the trans cooling circuit is not designed to overcome it. He said to expect a failure running one. Dave

You can go to Bobistheoilguy and check them out. There is a whole thread about it. One of the way is to put a bypass filter. So the original line is still flowing fully but there is a tee on the high pressure side to reroute a little bit of oil into the filter and return it on the low pressure side. That way is not going to reduce the flow to the cooler.

I was told the same thing. I had one on a fresh built 700R4 and my tranny builder told me to take the thing off of there because it caused way too much restriction. He told me the pressure dropped too far for him to feel safe.

If a guy wanted to get fancy he could use a 12volt oil pump to pull fluid from a fitting on the side of the transmission pan and pump it through a filter unit and dump it back into the other upper side of the pan.

I saw a guy once custom made one using the same filter as the oil filter and he changed it every time he changed his oil.

I heard the same thing. That's why the one I have is still in the garage.
