Well, you'd need the engine, flywheel, accessories (power steering pump, alternator, etc - they are different on the diesel). The motor mounts are the same, the trans bolts up. The diesel had a bigger radiator with an oil cooler, depending on what you're doing with it you might be able to get away with the radiator you have and an aftermarket oil cooler.

The biggest thing I can think of is the brakes... The diesel doesn't provide vacuum to run your power brakes. You could look into a vacuum pump or converting to hydroboost. If your 3/4 ton has the HD brakes it may already have hydroboost, in which case you're all set.

And of course you'd have to drain the fuel tank and install a diesel fuel filter. Incidentally, you may have to change your fuel pickup. If it has two lines, a feed and a return, you'll be all set, if it only has one line you'll need to get one with two lines.

You'll also have to wire up something to run the glow plugs. You can use all the other existing wiring with minor modifications though...

Been there DONE yesterday after 9 days straight of 1 to 2 A.M.....
Don't like the high R's on 4.10 gears..have good 3.73 ready to go...hav not taken it out more than a few miles or so...luv it already..The truck itself had a slew of problems I found at the same time SHOULD NAME IT CHRISTINE!!! $@*#@*&

It was easier on 3500 because of hydraboost brakes already on truck...
"Christine" sighed relief to be rid of junk 454.:D

Donor truck will be the best way. Install an overdrive transmission w/3.42 ratio or a 3.08 diff if no OD. But why not just buy an existing good Diesel truck??? Your gasser might have more resale value than a diesel truck.

Changed my ratio to 3.73 thursday eve... drove 60 miles highway...fuel gauge didn't move much!!!!:D Luv this truck!!! 92 was a good year for the 6.2!!! My speedo is 9mph off at 55..(speed the chase vehicle was going)so ther 4.11 to 3.73 was worth it. Just changed gear set, not whole rear.

"I luv my truck, it's right outside"....
