: nicktane or edge
jmg343 02-19-2005, 02:10 AM just stumbled upon a bag of cash and the only logical thing to do is put it into the truck. so what do i do? do i put in a nicktane or do i buy the edge attitude? i know its sort of apples and oranges but what would you do?
thanks
jake
Shortcut 02-19-2005, 04:01 AM I would say, give the bag to me (with money in bag).:)
Personally I did the nicktane jump first. Many debates as to the absolute need for the extra filtration but peace of mind is paramount to me.
My .02 worth now give up the bag:) :)
dmaxalliTech 02-19-2005, 07:19 AM your better to invest in longevity then speed IMO.
deadfurrow 02-19-2005, 12:02 PM You could just buy the Edge without the Attitude, & save enough money to the buy the Nicktane kit. Then buy the Attitude later. With your exhaust, you shouldn't have to worry about EGTs, so the Attitude monitor isn't absolutely neccessary right at the moment.
bigblackdmax 02-19-2005, 12:32 PM If you stumbled on a bag of cash buy both! For what you were going to spend and now what you do have now.
Got Juice? 02-19-2005, 12:57 PM Get The EDGE!
Juice and Attitude.
That way you have gauges.
Then get the filter kit.

tysmith 02-19-2005, 01:32 PM A friend of mine has an '01 with 80k on it, no fuel related problems at all, and he's run the duramaximizer since new and recently got the Banks Six-gun.
Not that extra filtration is a bad thing, but not the savior of our tainted injectors.
That said, go for the Attitude...

jmg343 02-19-2005, 02:12 PM not that i have any REAL idea of what theyve got in their tanks, but I only fill with what should be good, clean, diesel. I dont fill up at the little mom and pop gas shops, as much as Id love to support the little man, many of them neglect their filters, etc, to save the money they're losing by charging 10 cents less per gallon. That being said, I think Ill go with the Attitude. Shortcut - if I give you the bag Im taking your two cents out so youll be getting $999.98 and the dye pack.
Jeff@SGLC 02-22-2005, 12:08 PM I've noticed that filtration has come up many times in needs of the truck due to poor quality diesel in the states. Does anyone know if this holds true for Canadian Diesel as well or if its of better quality. Would make the decission easy not to get filtration for me if the fuel is better.
lakingslayer 02-22-2005, 12:20 PM I'd do the filtration first. If $$ is an issue why not try a predator?
jmg343 02-22-2005, 12:46 PM kind of turned off to the predator, well not turned off. But, I really like the fact that with the edge I can switch between levels 1 and 5 simply and quickly right from the drivers seat. I dont like the idea of having to go through all sorts of steps to change settings with the predator. Also, does the predator have the same safety features as the edge, like the defuel, etc.?
redneck45 02-22-2005, 08:25 PM Edge rocks, no problems since reflash, attitude is nice also. I got both, but did the filtraton first.
Frank Blum 02-22-2005, 10:27 PM Filter first. I do believe Greg's kit without the water sensor and heater is all you need and cheaper that the others. Later! Frank
jmg343 02-23-2005, 12:52 AM ok i just had to spend some money, the hole it was burning was getting bigger and bigger. so I got the nictane. ill get the edge in a month or so, hopefully theyll have the bugs worked out
Mitchagain 02-23-2005, 10:21 AM Filter first. nictane or equivelant. can't beat the confidence of clean fuel in these trucks!
