kbstinky 02-18-2005, 09:32 PM Shown below is an email I received from ebay.
The listing was for an Edge Juice.
Sounds like they are starting to tighten the market.
The following listing:
7953536455 -Edge Juice w/Attitude 01-04 Chevy/GM 6.6L Duramax
was removed by eBay because an intellectual property rights owner notified eBay that the listing contains material that potentially infringes its copyright. We strongly urge you not to complete this transaction.

Max Power 02-18-2005, 09:34 PM I've seen this happen with edge products in the past. Edge must really be putting a lot of work into ending the ebay stuff.
michael nelson 02-18-2005, 09:55 PM why do they do that even if the prices are better on e-bay,how is it possible they can sell the same product for 100s less????just wondering-michael
dmaxalliTech 02-18-2005, 10:16 PM Its been a long time coming and I wouldnt doubt it if this is just the beginning. Best bet before purchasing a unit is to call Edge directly and verify that the seller is an authorized distrubuter. That way you can avoid any suprises should a warranty issue pop up
mudbug 02-18-2005, 10:21 PM Does Edge, Predator, VA, et al provide a warranty card with their product when they sell it?
Max Power 02-18-2005, 10:22 PM No
McRat 02-18-2005, 10:24 PM Well at least one person has tried to buy an Edge box on Ebay and got scammed. Sent money, no Edge.
If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.
But understand that business people have a problem with Ebay. As a business owner, you must pay taxes, rent, taxes, facility upkeep, taxes, inventory costs, taxes, etc. You cannot compete with someone selling on Ebay out of their garage illegally.
Ebay might someday be the death of the legitimate legal reseller. And then ALL of our taxes go up to subsidize cheats selling out of their garage.
dmaxalliTech 02-18-2005, 10:42 PM Lots of garage vendors on Ebay, hiding behind nothing but a computer screen.
I have found a lot of low prices on nearly everything I have looked for on Ebay, but I try and buy stuff that is coming from a private individual that is used or the such. Or if its something I cant find another source for.
kbstinky 02-18-2005, 10:48 PM What is ironic is that the listing was for a USED edge, not a new one.
I guess ebay scared the guy enough that he pulled his add.
If you do a search for edge, you still come up with listed units.
Maybe they are all legit dealers, or just haven't pulled the add yet.
knees 02-18-2005, 11:13 PM McRat,
I'm new here and don't want to step on anyone's toes, but......as a business owner who does a lot of business both off and on eBay (nothing to do with truck acc.) I have to take exception with the generalization that business owners have a problem with eBay. I don't! If you're a legitimate business ON eBay, then you're feedback will speak for itself (we have a feedback score over 430 from different users, over 840 total, with 100% POSITIVE!--ZERO NEGATIVE). Yes I have an office building and I pay my fair share of taxes, taxes, taxes, taxes, and oh yeah, taxes. Ebay is a way for legitimate business owners to tap into a market (over 80 million worldwide) that was once impossible and cost prohibitive--I never would have imagined that I could do business with folks from the UK, Austrailia, Japan, Hong Kong, Armenia(sp), Germany, Spain, Canada so on and so on, but I have! What used to be a business centered basically around a 200 mile radius has now become worldwide! All because of the incredible marketing opportunity that eBay has afforded us. And the "crooks" or "someone selling on Ebay out of their garage illegally" will be exposed--unfortunately it might take some bad experiences for some, which happens in ALL businesses, but the "cream always rises to the top".
I get a lot of great information from you and others on this site, but please don't generalize folks that sell on eBay as problems for business people. It's just another marketing avenue that A LOT OF LEGITIMATE BUSSINESS PEOPLE, including myself, are taking advantage of.

GMC-2002-Dmax 02-19-2005, 02:31 PM JUST MY $.02
I beleive that this problem might have been better fixed had it been stopped immediately........
When I got my EDGE Juice in June of 2002 it was a v3.61.......everytime I needed it updated it went back to Edge for the update.......They were priced fairly and only EDGE or large vendors sold them.......When the HOT OJ was released in September 2002 it was a premium $$$$$ to get it updated as well..........IIRC it was either $250 or $300 for that update over the std. box.........
Even with the internet and E-Bay IMHO it is still a very good box.........but has been so cheapened by the bargain sellers that I do not think it will ever recover.......and EDGE is not the only company..........either.
Now with the threat of warranty denial or closing down auctions it does not serve the owners of that product well........
I have a v4.81 Hot OJ/Attitude from Kennedy Diesel that is not worth anywhere close to what it should be.............and that effects not only myself but every owner of that product.........many of the members here started with an EDGE box........and it was great but in our quest for more power have moved beyond it.........
It is a shame what has happened............
I don't think EDGE has enough time to check on everybody's sale.......especially when it's a used unit.......

Kennedy 02-19-2005, 06:36 PM Tony,
I 100% agree. Edge is working on getting things in control, but the sad part is they cannot even trust their warehouses or jobbers at their word.
Keystone for example is a huge WD who happens to have their own retail divisions/internet store that breaks policy with many of their suppliers. Now there's just no excuse for that. I signed on with Keystone, but I'll be damned if I'll buy anything from them if they are going to undercut their dealers...

michael nelson 02-19-2005, 07:35 PM this web site seems to have ford writin all over it???
tysmith 02-19-2005, 07:48 PM As a family business owner, all I can say is, Support your local vendors! I have no problem paying a little extra for a product when I can speak to the guy who sells it if ever there is a problem.

You won't offend me, don't worry about it.
But as a businessman you must be aware that people who do not run their business by the same rules we must obey have a large advantage that we cannot compete with as far as pricing goes.
The good news is those who deal from the bottom of the deck seldom last long. When they are eventually forced to go legit, their advantage dissolves.

McRat 02-19-2005, 10:57 PM OPPSS!!!
Let me state that I'm not in the automotive or resale business. I measure chit. ;)
nwpadmax 02-19-2005, 11:05 PM like the length of things?
knees 02-20-2005, 03:02 AM Pat,
You're correct. Neither you, nor I can compete with the bottom prices of folks who sell striclty on the internet and sell $#!%loads of products. However, we both know that these folks will be good for one sell (because of their price) to most folks and good for only one sell because of their service (or should I say lack of service!). But if you're a legitimate business who sells a lot of stuff at home and/or a lot of stuff on the internet (or eBay) and you service your customers, then more power to you--you will be rewarded. That's good business that benefits you and it benefits your customers (more business for you, lower prices and better service for the customers!). It's a win--win.
It's not eBay's fault that they've given access to millions of potential customers to thousands of businesses--that's the internet PERIOD. Ebay just happens to do it better than anyone else. But just like you said, "The good news is those who deal from the bottom of the deck seldom last long. When they are eventually forced to go legit, their advantage dissolves", AND those that are legit and have been from the start, remain strong and will prosper. Because they will strive to service their customers, at all costs!:exactly:
Thanks, and please keep up the great posts.
Chandler
