: Quick question about stacking the Edge and predator...

So if you stack the edge and predator, will you still get the benefit of the Edge's safety features like preventing limp mode? Like say if you ran a 40hp predator tune while running the edge at level 4 or 5. Thanks.

I run my edge on level 1 and the predator on the 40hp tune. I tried the Edge on 3 while keeping the 40 pred. tune and I didn't notice any defuel between shifts when hitting it hard. I beleive the edge should at least back off it's own fuel control changes between shifts but I'm not sure if it alters what the predator tune puts out. I think you don't want to run the level 4 or 5 on the edge without being ready to limp the tranny even with the edge protection.

If you still retain the safety aspects of the edge, I would think it would cut power regardless of which predator tune you have it, you think? If the edge is truely sensing slip in the tranny, it should sense that weather your stacked with a predator or not stacked at all. But I would also think it would cut power based on which edge tune you have in due to the fact that the edge can't tell the predator is there. Would be an interesting test....

You will limp it...........

Been there, done that already.......

Once they sense slip the slip has already occurred. The protection is only based on reaction. It can't foresee the slip happening.

also what if you run both set to kill? jw?

i thgink i might get the edge so i can adjust on the fly for more power. it all depends on the funds.

The VA and Pred both set on kill works well.....don't know about edge and predator on lly...haven't tried it.

I hope this question isn't too stupid but when stacking do you generally recieve the full power gain of both?? Are there any other advantages to stacking?

For me, the Edge+Predator did not yield good ET's on an LLY. First gear wouldn't wake up, and shifting took too long.

No. You will see a small increase with two combined. It depends on the combo.

If programmer 1 makes 100hp and box 2 makes 100hp you might be good for 130hp. Each box is different. I've never heard of 2 stacked making anywhere near what their claimed hp is added together.

No, multiple modifications to the tune is never additive. And sometimes subtractive.

Stacking is what you do when you can't find a really "big" tune, and you have a built transmission. It is not something to do with a stock transmission.

Another question on stacking...

I am used to the J/A combo and just ordered the predator.

For a stock tranny i keep it less than '4 ' on the Juice for its protection.

My QUESTION is what combo of levels can I stack them at to be about equal, so i can spare the tranny??

Also, if (i.e. J/A @ 2 and TOW tune) is the same...do I gain or lose anything...like smoke, turbo lag.?

With a Stock Transmission.........I could limp mine with a standard Hot OJ~v4.61- Non- Attitude version on level 4/125HP and the Predator on 40HP.........

Stacking will get you into trouble, you may get away with it at first, but after a while.............

My 03 LB7 held Hot Juice/with attitude for a long time until its early demise. LOL

Does the edge still provide any protection on level 0? Until I have the wifes blessing for a tranny (soon - real soon  ), I will probably run the edge on level 0 and the Predator on 65. Any issues with this combination?

McRat: Do you expect to see any improvements with the edge/predator stack when edge releases the improved lly revision?

Edge has no protection on 0. It only adjusts power down what it has already altered to get the power up.

On my lb7 stacking the hot juice and the Predator was instant tranny limp on anything over 2nd setting on each. I finally set the Predator to 3 and the edge to 3 on the tow/haul. I launched in tow/haul and then shut it (and the edge) off just before the 4th-5th gear change. It was an impressive stack, but ran no quicker than Juice alone. MPH was up about 4. With both set on their highest setting the truck was awesome! A tranny kit and a convertor would have been a blast!

From what I have read, the lb7/edge combination is really nice. I am waiting to purchase the edge to see how the edge/lly update works out. I am sure they will get it dialed in similiar to the lb7. It will be interesting to hear if the updated edge/predator stack is any quicker at the track.

I am also interested in what is safe for a stock tranny and stacking predator and edge juice. I just picked a 01 D/A and it is ready for some mods. I like the performance ans saftey of the edge but I also want the adjustments from the predator. Gonna get both. Just need to what is the right setup for a stock tranny. Thanks

We will see. I don't have any info on what they are releasing.

What he said...

Is there a 'sweet' combo of the two that is better/safer than 1 by itself? :exactly:

Stacking is like a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know WHAT you're goin't get. ;)

I run the 40hp pred. tune and mostly the edge on lvl1 but have run the edge a couple times on lvl 3 and 5.

what i have found with my edge/pred stacking is the edge compliments the predator better than the opposite... (ie predator 100 edge 2 defuel 4-5 and low boost 5) but i get a little "missing" from it, like little bumps. eventually im going to have to get another fuel pump to see if it cures it......

when i get the edge/*** i will run the pred on 40 hp and the edge on 2-3 what ever works. i want the best of both worlds. tranny come later way later.
