: TTT Testimonial (yeah I know, another one)
Just made a trip from Maine to Florida pulling our 5th wheel. What a difference with the TTT mirrors. I can glance at either mirror & know if there's a vehicle beside me. No blind spots. NONE! It's the first upgrade I'd make on any truck. Last year we went to Arizona and even after 3 looks in the mirror I wasn't sure there wasn't someone hiding beside me. Next year I want the supertank or a bed combo tank. Toys toys toys
dmaxalliTech 02-18-2005, 03:19 PM I went from power folding to power extend to TTT's myself.. best mirror going IMO
tysmith 02-18-2005, 05:56 PM Anybody else's vibrate when extended? That's my only complaint. Otherwise, they're great!
Ty
cwolfe 02-18-2005, 08:28 PM Mine vibrate closed or extended. I was aondering if anyone elses did too.
grizzy 02-20-2005, 09:14 PM I'm considering purchasing the TTT mirrors. The vibration is the first complaint I've heard so far. I should be ordering a pr next week.
cwq21 02-21-2005, 01:42 PM Mine don't vibrate either way, in or out.
Kennedy 02-21-2005, 06:13 PM Some vibration is inevitable depending on road conditions etc. The glass is pretty darn big. Very little vibration from mine unless I'm on nasty roads.
tysmith 02-21-2005, 08:59 PM I suppose I should say that my mirrors are extended at all times in order to see around an 8' wide, 11' long utility box, and I don't travel the best of roads...
Ty
WAskier 02-21-2005, 11:15 PM Mine vibrate but it's not enough to make me care or notice unless i"m staring at them for a long time. But I shouldn't be doing that anyway, should I?...
tophog 02-21-2005, 11:29 PM What John said. I think it's mostly due to the road surface, tire tread, head wind, etc. Mine hardly vibrate at all on smooth freeway. On course, rough road they vibrate a little but nothing major. Stick your hand out 2 feet going 60-70 mph and see if you can keep it from moving around :)
cwolfe 02-22-2005, 01:17 AM I still like them they just vibrate a little. Its only the big mirror the little ones don't do it at all.
john@dps 02-22-2005, 09:55 AM Call me on a price for the mirrors. I think you will be happy with the price.
John
sprintmod1 02-22-2005, 10:12 AM I have a little vibration on the mirrors also; experimented with the bug deflector; took it off and it eliminated 98% of the vibration; think I might switch deflectors from what the dealer put on it to one a little more streamlined and see what happens.
I don't have any vibration or at least I haven't noticed it. I don't have a bug shield, maybe that's a factor?
renagade 02-26-2005, 01:15 PM I bought the mirrors and love them. You have a much greater perspective on what is going on behind you and beside. Anyone have a good supplier for the different color covers.?
what kind of prep does it take to paint these ? cleaning, but does it require any scuffing ?
BarryD 02-26-2005, 02:55 PM I had mine painted to match the truck. I took the covers over to the paint shop before installation. Gives the mirrors a factory look.

EEEEZY 02-27-2005, 12:18 AM Visability to the rear is extraordinary and, with the two glass views, I can follow any vehicle all the way from the rear until I can see them out of the side windows; even when pulling a 36' RV. For me, vibration is negligible and inconsequential. Mine have power glass w/heat and both directional and running lights. They are vastly superior to the optional power extension mirrors I ordered with the truck which are now in a box in the garage!
s-moe 02-27-2005, 09:59 AM BarryD:
your mirrors look great. If I get annoyed enough with my mirrors I will probably get a set of TTT mirrors for my truck too.
Too bad they don't incorporate the power fold option into their mirrors. I want the best of both worlds, extend manually (because it is not something I have to do everyday) and power fold so I can squeeze by things without scratching my mirrors.
MaxRock 02-28-2005, 12:42 PM I have a set of TTT (heated, power, blinker & marker lights) coming this week. How did you hook up the wires for the blinker and marker lights? Did you use one of the blue taps or did you cut the factory wire and solder the mirror connection? Just looking for opinions.
Thanks,
MaxRock
WAskier 02-28-2005, 12:50 PM all the electrical hooks up to the factory plugs except for the marker lights. For that you'll have to find a power source and as we have explained here before the two different options on the TTT instructions give two different effects neither of which you may like. The first option in the instruction book causes the marker lights to dim with your dash lights and the second option in the updated instruction (the little piece of paper that comes with it) causes the markers to be on whenever the truck is on.
MaxRock 02-28-2005, 12:55 PM Thanks for the input. I've read the instructions on where to hook up the light options, I'm just curious as to HOW some of you made the connections. Did you just splice into the factory harness with a "T" splice or cut the harness and solder in the new wiring?
Thanks....
For the turn signal connection in the door, I used insulated male/female spade connectors so I could unplug them without cutting if necessary. I neglected to install the wiring for the marker lamps until a better solution presents itself.
sprintmod1 02-28-2005, 02:08 PM I found a hot wire in the ps fuse panel box. I do not have the roof marker lamps and thanks to ski1 he suggested going in there. When you take the panel off there is a space for a plug which would be on the bottom towards the fire wall (since I don't have the roof markers) and there are four pins sticking out. On the bottom row, the center pin seems to be a "hot" pin when you turn on the running lamps. I just did this yesterday morning and it seems to be working fine so far. I also believe that ski1 said that if you do have the roof marker lamps, it is a green plug in the ps fuse panel and you want the single brown wire to tap into (you would need to double check that).
So far it beats the instructions from TTT, at least for me.
cwolfe 03-01-2005, 12:17 AM Could you run the wires from the mirror up into the headliner and tap into the roof marker lamps if you have them?
WAskier 03-01-2005, 02:42 AM Could you run the wires from the mirror up into the headliner and tap into the roof marker lamps if you have them?
I don't see why you couldn't but it'd probably be easier to find out what wire is the power for your roof lights and tap into them on their way up the pillar or before instead of taking the headliner down and getting to the wires all the way up in there.
it is far easier to tap into them as they enter the PS fuse panel. on my 03, they enter through a lime green plug which has only two wires in it, power and ground for the clearance lights. running the driver's side wire over is also very easy and clean as it runs in the "tray" at the front of the ducting that runs along the bottom of the dash, where some factory wire looms are present. takes 5 minutes and your only remove 1/2" of tape to tap into the wire, no headliner, pillar, etc...................;)
this is the same process sprintmod1 explained, his version is the same excpet he uses the terminal directly.
I tapped into the brown wire before it gets into the harness by stripping some of the insulation of the factory clearnace light wire (brown), and soldering the yellow mirror wires directly into it. you could also use a scotchloc connector but I think the soldered connection is less prone to intermittent failures if the connector does not pierce the insulation all the way.
Derekb 03-01-2005, 12:07 PM Has anyone had problems with feedback from the radio speakers after installing the TTT's? I installed them with the optional harness for plug and play (except splicing the red wire). After putting everything back together I get crackling feedback through all the speakers....
I have a 2005 GMC with the Bose audio system.

derek,
did you replace the connectors on the speakers correctly when you reassmebled the doors ? what did you do with the speakers when you removed them, possible to puncture the cone ? i have not experienced anything but the same mediocre sound that was there when I started :D
MaxRock 03-02-2005, 11:47 AM What gauge wire did you use to hook up the turn and marker lights? The instructions call for 14 gauge...that is a pretty hefty wire. I feel this is an error and was wondering what gauge wire some of you used when installing the mirrors.
Thanks,
MaxRock
18 guage. the yellow wire coming from the mirrors is much less than 14 guage and the wiring from the OEM clearance lights where I tapped on the DS connector panel is 18 ga as well.
WAskier 03-02-2005, 12:25 PM I used 12 gauge but that's just what I had sitting around at the time.
