General Motors and Isuzu Motors Ltd. will boost production of diesel engines at their joint venture in Moraine, Ohio, this year and next.

The 6.6-liter V-8 diesel, called the Duramax, is available in the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. It will be sold in the Hummer H1 Alpha, a high-performance model, starting this spring. Hummer is looking at offering the Duramax in the H2 and H3, a Hummer spokesman said.

Engine production at the joint venture, DMAX Ltd., is scheduled to reach 195,000 this year and to rise above 200,000 in 2006, said an Isuzu executive. That's up from about 172,000 in 2004.

To expand production, DMAX is spending $50 million on new equipment.

yeah, they have been talking about putting Duramax's in the Hummers for a long while now due to the gas guzzling 6.0's in there now.

maybe this increase in production will help lower the price of Diesel?? probably not..I wish it would go back down.

The H2 is suppose to built on the Tahoe chassis and H3 Trailblazer chassis I can't believe they would DMAX them? But who knows, Now maybe a DMAX in a suburban that would be sweet.

Problem is the floor plan and clearance for the Allison. So they would have to either redo the floor pan or give it the 2" HD body lift. I too doubt the H3, since it is based of the trailblazer.

A DMax in the Colorado would inspire me to sell off a few cars and pick that up!

DMAX in a Colorado will give it the slammed front, butt high appearance unless something drastic is done to change what's there now.

Good news for GM/Isuzu/YUZO YAMAGUCHI that they are selling well. The only way I see them putting one in the H3, which is a Canyon/Colorado, is if they possibly build a V6 version. They didn't have room for the six cylinder inline as it is. Not to mention the toothpick drivetrain.
