I am using a two-tank svo system and when driving i can really smell burning veggie oil. I know it is not an exhaust leak because it does not smell like exhaust, it is more like the oil burning. I also can smell diesel but it is not as obvious because i only use diesel for startup and shutdown, then i switch over.
Strange thing is that when the windows are closed, i don't really smell it but as soon as i open one, then for some reason the draft makes the smell obvious.
There is no obvious sign of a leak - i have looked at the engine while in park with the engine cover off, and don't see any fuel dripping or puddling anywhere around the engine.
I use a different filter for veggie so i know it is not around the stock fuel filter.
Basically, it seems like i can smell the fuel while it is combusting but i am at a loss in trying to figure out what is wrong, where the problem is, etc.
Any advice?
This is a P-30 step van with 6.5 NA replacement engine.
thanks,
Paul
