I do not own a Duramax, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night :)

I recently located an '06 Duramax 2500 series cargo van with 44,000 miles on it. I was in search of it for my neighbor who said he could not find one locally.

He sounds geeked that he is able to get what he wanted is set to fly out and drive it back. Now I have some questions.

I work at GM and have access to some things, but I'm not finding anything that would toss up a red flag for the '06 Duramax equipped vans. This guy has recently done me an incredible favor that involved tearing up my basement floor. I want to make sure I steer him right. Can anyone tell me what the history is on these years?

The dealer mentioned something about regen and lose of power, but my neighbor couldn't remeber exactly what he said. I read where the Duramaxes have a habit of going into a "limp" mode when the do something called "regen", but the things I read attribute that all to aftermarket programming or mods.

Is there a regen issue on this year van? What might the dealer have been talking about?

I checked the dealer history and the van has had a few very minor service calls. It is a real clean van with cargo bins.

There is no regeneration at all on '06 models.
The Diesel Particulate Filter, which wasn't produced until Jan. '07., is what does that.

Both of our vans have been great. Tell him to buy it. How much are they asking ?

17,900. They wouldn't budge much at all. I thinkhe got it for 17,650

By the way, thanks for the info. He drove it from Maryland to Michigan and got over 20 mpg. I'm jealous.

I am impressed. Van was very, very clean and has brand new tires.
