Dirty Diesel

I was thinking of running my truck on WVO. I can make an appleseed processor and can get the WVO. Is there a need for the dual tank setup and fuel heaters for the truck? I was planning on running around 75%WVO with 25%off road diesel in the summer, then less WVO in winter as I live in southern PA. I've been doing a lot of research and seen everything from running WVO through a paint strainer then in the truck, to these elaborate dual tanks and heater setups. I figure if I process the fuel good enough, there should be no problem as long as it stays thin at colder temps. I put about 20k on a year and I'm planning on getting rid of it next year so I dont want to be dumping a ton of money into it and I dont care if it blows up in 50k as it wont be my problem. Any help?

If you invest in a Greasecar kit when you sell it you will have an easier time selling it and you will get more money for it, I got 2 times kelley blue book on mine doing that. Then you will have no issues driving on WVO during the winter Filtering through a paint strainer is a bad idea you will not get your VO clean enough to keep from having issues related to dirty fuel. Good luck

I just posted this on another thread but here goes again.
Your WVO must be clean and dry. I built a centrifuge cleaner, check out this thread http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/foru...1/m/2001011761 (http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/159605551/m/2001011761)
It was a bit expensive, I probably have about $700 in mine. It can be built cheaper, probably about $4-500 but if you process about 30-40 gallons at a time it will pay for itself in about 4-5 times (or about 4-5 weeks) I have just started and just finished my second batch of 30 gallons so I have saved about $250 so far, pretty good investment. I am running a blend of 75%WVO/15%diesel/10%gas and it runs great in my 6.2. I also am using coolant heated fuel lines and filter so after about 5 minutes the oil is warm. I really can't tell any difference in driving with the WVO except the smell. My daughter got out of the car the first time and "Dad, I smell burgers" I told her it was the car, she loves it!
Let me know if you need any more information, I only have about 500 on WVO now but plan on alot more.

Running the truck on WVO and using an appleseed are two different animals. If you are going the appleseed route and processing your WVO into biodiesel, then no, you don't need to do any modifications to the truck. In the winter you might want to mix in about 25% petroleum diesel to reduce the gel point. If you are going to go the WVO route, then yes, you need to get a separate tank for the WVO with a heater in it and heated lines. Your WVO needs to be heated to about 160* before injection or you can expect premature pump wear, injector wear, poor atomization and coking.
Also the optic sensor in your injection pump might have problems if your oil is too dark. Those with the mechanical pumps can get away with a lot more than those of us with the electronic ones.

So I'll be ok in the warmer months running 100% straight appleseed-processed WVO with no truck mods?

As long as you fully process it you are good to go. Don't take any short cuts, they can get real expensive real fast. Get a couple of extra fuel filters as Biodiesel will clean out any crap that has accumulated in your fuel system. I changed mine I think after first and fourth tanks and now just do it every 10K miles or so.
On especially cool mornings might be a little slow to start but most days you wont know the difference.

You're getting your terminology messed up. An "Appleseed Processor" is a home made contraption to produce BIO-DIESEL. If you're interested in running SVO you won't be using an appleseed processor.
It sounds like you need to do a lot more reading and research if you're making this simple mistake at this point.
