At the end of the track after skid stops you and you spin out do you try to slam it it Neutral quick or do you simply let off the pedal? I have always tried to slam it to N before the wheels stop spinning but sometimes its hard to do and the last pull it made a hellofa clunk when i hit "R". However last year on my first pull i just let of the pedal and the truck died.. No big deal but is that hard on stuff?
What do you guys do?
thanks

Shouldn't be a problem if you accidently hit R by mistake. Allison knows not to shift until RPM's drop. With a little practice, you will have it down pat.

I have ahold of the selector open palmed, shove up and forward on it into neutral. Thats the best thing I can figure to do. Ive put in in R before though by accident and nothing happened.

Like HeavyHD said, Push up and forward on the selector. It will stop in "N" It shouldn't go in to reverse.

Hard on the turbo when it stalls, no oil going to it & it's frying oil hot

Does it make the clicking noise like my '96 chev half ton does? or is the computer smart enought to not even attempt it?

Popping it into neutral at the end of the track works for me. Jim and I both had problems with the truck stalling out at the end. Now you can call me stupid, but one of the previous posts talks about how the converter is locked in T/H mode and that is why the trucks can stall at the end of the track...................... from my understanding when you are in 4LO, putting the truck in T/H mode doesn't matter............ is there any truth to this?

I'm new to this D-max sled pulling thing so I guess I need a little help in understanding why you are popping the tranny into Neutral at the end of the track. I pulled twice last year and spun out at the end of the track let out of the throttle and had no issues with the truck wanting to die. Guess I'm just trying to learn.

by letting off you might lose some track position but once you know the truck has no more giver the big neutral shift

They will die out when you let off the throttle after spinning out but the truck is really stopped. If you are really easy in letting out you can keep it from dying but just kick it into N and its fine.

thats going into park! there is a neutral safety lock out on the truck. just try it. start in 1 and work your way up. as long as you dont pull back on it, it will stop in neutral and will not go any father unless you pull up(toward you). i have thrown mine in neutral very had at times, never a problem. if you go into the "r" tcm has certain parameters it needs before it will allow it to engage. i stared to do it because of the converter, but also because of the turbo now as well.

When pulling when u get to the end of the track your egts are out rages. If the truck shuts off u can do alot of damage to it. And going from all that heat to sudden coolnest can hurt it two. when kicking the truck in netural it lets the oil circulate threw the turbo. Kick it into netraul and rev it up like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ri_T5cKKIqg
Just a couple quick revs to make sure the motor wont die will be fine

Why is the left side of the truck so much higher?

My 3rd arm broke at the begining of the pull.

you can put it into reverse while moving forward, for a very short time it does nothing, if you wait long enough it will try for a split second, just enough to scare the POO out of ya!!!!! dont ask who's truck!!!!!1
