I was backing up with the wheel turned and hit a bump. It grabbed the left front fender liner and folded it. Zipties fixed it.

Sorry about previous posts that a stock GMC won't rub.

If you put big tires on WITHOUT lifting the front end, the left fender liner will rub.

Much like any car or truck on the planet.

PS - It took 10 cents and 10 minutes to fix it.

You can change that with some caster and camber adjustments. Just remember to keep the R/L off-set correct for drag racing. :thumb:

Yep, I just used a heat gun and reshaped the fender liner. Works great and it was free!

Pat, some of the problem is the new rims don't have the stock offset or are wider and this causes the problem.
As soon as I get a new truck the 2 wire ties are the first thing done.

Did u have to trim any of the airdam (bottom inside corner)?

If not have Kat turn the wheel while u watch, if it catches it could tear up the airdam.

Naw, airdam is close but doesn't touch.

I checked out everything when I put on the tires, and it cleared while sitting. I had 500mi on before I tagged it.

Only in reverse with the wheel turned right and hitting a big bump will do it.

I put my 285-70-17 MT's on yesterday. well I got the driver side fron on and checked. I am hitting on the front of the wheel well where the bumper is. I can trim or turn up the torsion. I am also hitting on the inside rear the plastic part I think it is the liner. I could not push it out of the way. I am not sure this will be fixed with the torsion bars.
I was really hopping that they would fit as I already had them, ran them on my dodge Dodge.

On the rear side behind the liner is your parking brake cable, pull it off to the side and strap it back, use a small strap to pull the well liner back flat and your OK. in the front you have the windshield washer bottle need to strap the well liner forward up there as well. Should be OK.

I have, but some people would consider it excessive. :) The black line in the first pic is where I cut the fender. The second pic shows the bumper after a 1-1/2" trim.

My 285/75 REVO's DID NOT RUB for months after I put them on.

On a hard left turn, at the bottom of a very steep hill they finally just touched the upper inside of the wheel well.

I cranked the T-bars up 3 full and have never had a problems since and am on my second set of revo's.

My tires grabbed my lining too. I fixed it with a pocket knife.

i actually am on my third set of 285x75x16 set of tires, and untill a month ago, did not lift the truck, i did have a slight rub on a hard left when crossing a curb, but that was it,no parts rubbing or riping, now with the aftermarket 8" rims, i had to raise it up, truck road much better on the stock configuation, and had much better 60' times, because of poor traction in the front

Does anyone know why the rubbing occurs only in reverse and not drive?

Tire rotaion grabs it.

Also on ifs when you back up the front end loads up . Notice when you back up the front end squats more? So it gets closer than it was in normal forward driving. Normally the power of the truck is trying to unload the front end, front end comes up and so more clearance.

Big tires and off-raoding  don't mix without some tweaking. Pull that tire forward (caster) and cut the bumper a little. You won't tear up much around the bumper area..... but if the tire moves back into the fender.... you could have some problems.
