: what to do with water in the exhaust?
yamahagrizzly 02-17-2005, 10:19 PM well ive been thinking. if i put 5" stacks on my truck i only lose about 8 " of bed space beacause of my tool box. so thats not a problem. the problem is spending 800$ on an exhaust thats gona collect water. so my question is how do you prevent water from going into the exhaust? if i have to put topers on it every time it rains forget it. but if theirs something convinent i could do let me know becaue i am itching to blow some more money on my truck.

Now I hope you don't take offense to this, but in my opinion, I don't think the stacks would look proper on these trucks. How bout a nasty set of duals out the back?
Just my OP
McRat 02-17-2005, 10:48 PM The flapper on big rigs, generators, and farm tractors work fine.
kbstinky 02-17-2005, 11:34 PM The cheapest fix would be a couple 2lb coffee cans.

BK Tool 02-18-2005, 05:46 AM If you go all stainless then don't worry about the water. Just drill a small drain hole in the bottom 90* elbow that turns up to go to the stacks. Big trucks don't seem to have a problem.
yamahagrizzly 02-18-2005, 06:19 AM zaza ive seen pics of stupid stack and thought to my self why would some one wreck a truck for that. and ive seen pics of stacks that look awsome. my point is is some trucks do look funny with them in. but mine will be mild and nothing crazzy. also i got a pritty good inmagination. i can see how things look in my head before i do them. its a gift i think.
wakeboarder 02-18-2005, 10:57 AM Like BK said, drill a very small weep whole at the bottom. You will never know it there.
gearhead 02-18-2005, 12:54 PM what is a set of 5" x 36" long stacks worth?
on edit: they are chrome.
Fingers 02-18-2005, 01:03 PM A curved tip will keep the majority of the water out. Straight stacks need a weep hole at their base.
9W3-HD 02-18-2005, 01:11 PM If your wanting a slant stack thats strait up, Ive seen big rigs with reverse flappers, they are spring hinged on the bottom side, kind of different but a good idea.
Slick 02-18-2005, 01:31 PM I think the "flapper" stacks the red reg. cab dodge had in the Suncoast Video looked perfect. That is one awesome looking truck.
partsguy662 02-18-2005, 02:30 PM gearhead - 36", 5" chrome stacks are usually around 80-110$ each...I would try one of your local heavy truck dealers though...(Freightliner, Peterbilt, etc) If it's 5" you want, sometimes they will have a warrantied stack with a small pit on it...usually they will just give these away....
yamahagrizzly 02-18-2005, 05:04 PM i am convinced 5" duel stacks it is. small wheep hole at the bottom because of the water and then gauges. i am doing the slated stacks. i thought about the flappers but i dont think they would look good. also does any one know how hot dimonplating can get before damage? i will have a in bed tool box right behind the stacks.
Got Juice? 02-18-2005, 05:31 PM The flapper on big rigs, generators, and farm tractors work fine.
FLAPPERS ROCK!:ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro)

dpower 02-18-2005, 06:55 PM Stacks look great on these trucks.....I will have a set soon. I had angled 5inchers on my dodge and never had a problem....straight cut.....a small weep hole will fix that! I am puttin 5in. straights on in early march I think.

dozerboy 02-19-2005, 06:05 PM I love the sound of flappers at idle. Stack are cool even if there a little funny looking. However, I don't like them if there ain't a big cloud of black smoke coming out of them. As for the toolbox, I would worry about what was inside right around the area of the stacks. In addition, what kind of toolbox you have the in the bed style would stay warmer than the on the bed rails style. Wouldn't he want the weep hole to be a low a possible like under the truck not in the bed?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Maxxis 02-20-2005, 02:35 AM on the new international 33000 gvwr truck that have a stack pipe there is a small hole drilled into the bottom of the pipe just bellow where it bends to go up.
