The rubber Boot at base of my shifter at the steering col. is shot. How does this boot come out and where to get replacement? TIA

Probably have to go to the dealer for something like that. I've never had the column apart so not sure how it comes apart, but I'd be interested in how you come out. My dad's 03 needs a new one.

How do you replace it? Just pull it out, remove shift lever, and install new one? TIA
I found one at partszone.

Disable the airbag system and remove the airbag from the steering wheel - MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING BEFORE YOU MESS WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM
Remove the steering wheel
Remove the Tilt Lever - if equipped
Remove the screws securing the lower steering column trim cover
Remove the lower trim cover by tilting down and sliding back (towards the front)
Remove the screws securing the upper steering column trim cover
Remove the upper trim cover

At this point you can remove the old rubber boot from the shifter - the manual says to remove the shifter to install the new boot - I was able to stretch it over the shifter using plenty of Armor All as a lubricant. Re-install the upper and lower trim covers making sure you get the flange of the new boot properly engaged on the upper and lower trim covers.

Re-install everything you removed making sure that you connect the airbag connector securely to the airbag unit or you will get the airbag warning light.

Good Luck.

Its easy...I have spare OEM one if you want it (free) PM me and I can send it to you.

- You dont have to so anything with the air bag!
- All you have to do it take a few screws off and the steering cover thingy behind the steering wheel and wala.
- You take the column shifter off with at torx bit and slip the shifter through.
- Reverse what you just did and your done.

About a 5 min. job. The inside ring is plastic, I just squeezed it together and pulled it out. I put silocon on shifter and inside boot and slid it down shaft. Didn't have to take anything apart. Thanks for the help!
