: Turbo Bark Stock?

I have heard and felt a very weird sound on medium to heavy acceleration that sounds like a gasser back firing through the carb. Truck is 2005 GMC crew/dually. I have checked the clamps on the upper and lower intercooler tubes, and they seem tight, so what might this be. Only mods are MBRP exhuast and no kitty. No programmers or chips. Anyone else have this happen?

I get a turbo bark running stock. I can not get it to do it all the time in order to take it to the dealer. Have you found anything out?

I also had what I would assume is turbo bark on my truck, 3500 dually stock with 1200 miles on the odometer. Happened, two quick fart sounds imeediately followed by loss of power, then one more, while getting on the freeway at mid throttle. Having read about this with the edge upgrades I was suprised when it happened to me.

I've had the same thing happen to me. It is very intermitent, I can't make it do it every time. I also explained it as sounding like a lean back fire on a carb.

Turbo bark is when you let off the peddle after heavy acceleration you get a 'whoop whoop whoop' sound. It's quite loud (I've seen a couple of videos posted here that are good examples of it). It's from all the pressure that was built up being pushed backwards through the turbo when you let off the throttle.

I've never heard it on my truck and I've run my Edge on all levels with and without the Predator 40hp tune.

The woop wooop bark just as described by the other guys it happens when i am on the peddle. If that is not when a bark happens then what is it. I have been told by many that it is. The other people on this thread have described my problem to a tee. But we all do not have answers.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Do you have any way of measuring the boost of your turbo? Something sounds like it ain't working right (obviously). I'm not an expert by any means (obviously). I hope you can find what the problem is. I don't mean for this to sound bad but the problem sounds interesting.

Just out of curiosity when you say you are running stock do you have the Banks uninstalled or just set to 0 (or whatever it has to disable it). I know with the edge when you set it to level 0 it still isn't what the truck would be with it removed.

for me i am completely stock. I did go and get a K&N drop in filter. Possibly I am not getting enough air down the intake. It seems to spool up a little faster, but I have not had the problem since I put it in.

I call it more like bucking, best way I know to describe it.
The 04.5 did it and got a reflash that takes care of it (most of the time).
The juice seems to amplify it.

Some trucks bark when shifting at WOT and fast shift.

I'd call dealer and complain, even if it's not doing it then, just to get a history built up for the 05.
Maybe a reflash will be out for u guys.

My 2005 LLy is also "backfiring" intermittently at 3-4 and 4-5 shift points. I took the truck back to the dealer and explained to him what it was doing and got the lecture that it's impossible for diesels to back fire. I asked him to go for a ride with me and when the truck shifted from 3-4... Boom- back fire. The mechanic looked at me and said, Wow... that sounds just like it backfired! Duh. After the dealer had it in the shop for the better part of a week they are telling me that the problem is probally in the transmission and not the engine. I told them that I needed the truck and am in the process of taking the truck to another dealer to see what they can find. Truck only has 6,800 miles on it and has been in the shop three times.
