: Injectors... and more..
Morse 02-17-2005, 07:55 PM Bare with me here.. I have a 95 dodge 2wd.. I went to Georgia and had Garmon diesel play with it a little.. I couldn't believe the difference it made.. It's still not near as quick as my dmax, though for 470 bucks it's great..
They told me to get a set of 370 injectors and a 4'' or larger exhaust..
Who makes a 370 injector, and who has the best prices??
Who makes the cheapest aftermarket exhaust??
How much would an aftermarket turbo or twins cost on a budget??
Any info will be appreciated.. I just want to see how quick I can make this thing without spending a ton of cash.. Oh yeah.. I need a torque converter and a valve body as well.. Thanks...
Slick 02-18-2005, 08:15 AM You can build your own twins, but I think Piers twins go for 4500+/-. There are plenty of single chargers available though for a lot less money. That might be the way to go on a budget, if all you want is a drag-racer.
Uncle_Bens 02-18-2005, 09:00 AM Well after looking at your signature, I'm a little lost on why you need help finding CHEAPER parts??? Your 03 has alot of aftermarket parts on it.
Slick 02-18-2005, 09:40 AM If I remember right Morse wanted to put a Dmax in a drag car. Maybe most of his bombing money is going toward that.:confuzeld
greg24v 02-18-2005, 07:37 PM hey Morse, are you still in Owensboro, Ky? this is Greg, the young fellar that drives that black cummins. i talked to you a lil bit when we were at windy hollow racing that night. remember that 1/8 mile track, ya know, the one that was all messed up, lol. thanks, greg

Hmmm Piers Twins, NWCustoms Twins, IdahoCTD has a set for you as well.
370 sticks are pretty 'Dirty' lots of smoke and heat. go to www.NWBombers.com (http://www.NWBombers.com)
there is a member there IIRC selling his 370's if you want them
Cheapest 4" i know of is diamond eye.
Also upgrade your 160 pump to a 215 pump.
That should be good for now
Morse 02-24-2005, 04:53 PM Thanks for the reply guys.. I'm checking into the sites you gave me.. Yeah, the 03 duramax parts weren't cheap, though I bought the cummins to see just how little I had to spend to make it fast.. I also bought it because the aftermarket slowed down coming up with turbo options for the duramax.. I've had the Dodge now for several months.. Yes, I am also the guy with the diesel 69 camaro project.. I'm hoping to have it at a big diesel event at the end of June.. =) ...
Hey Greg.. Sure I remember who you are.. You were the one that smoked my dmax when I was trying to get the nitrous tuned.. It was nice to see a fellow diesel racer at Wendy Hallow.. I've been playing at that track since '91. Definitely not the most organized track, though it's a lot better than nothing.. I just don't get back to the homestead as much as I'd like.. I still haven't got it right.. I bought a new fuel pump that I've had for a while, though it's still sitting in the closet.. Are there any more people getting into diesels around there?? How quick did you end up running last year??
Morse 02-24-2005, 04:57 PM I spoke to Garmon diesel today, and they said they could send me an "E" turbocharger with an adaptor plate for 800 bucks.. They said another 450 for 370's.. Anybody know what an "E" turbo is??
vortecfcar 02-24-2005, 09:09 PM Cant help you with the E turbo, but piers has 370's for 400 bucks, 300 if you can catch them on sale. www.piersdiesel.com
Z71 Grizzly 02-26-2005, 06:36 PM I wouldnt recommend getting any BD turbos because my friend had one and blew the seals out of it in less than 2 months. I would recommend suncoast trans products the are a bit pricey but well worth the money once again my friend had a valve body and torque converter and it made all the difference in the world as for injectors if you can get your hands on the serial # from the marine 5.9 cummins they have bigger injectors and are fairly reasonablely priced any more ? just ask he is pretty good about finding good deals on performance parts
greg24v 03-04-2005, 03:26 PM hey morse, i was running about 8.60's. i thought that was pretty good. i went back about 2 weeks after that and ran an 8.44 out there. it was pretty fun racing the mustangs and stuff. but then after that, around town alot of people are **** talking my dodge because, well, its a dodge i guess. lol but now i have alot of people around here that dont like me because its a truck and its faster than most of the cars around here, but oh well. my good friend just bought a 2001 powerstroke from florida, dont know where abouts though. hes painting it bright orange and puttin a small lift on it. he says its gonna smoke mine when hes done. i hope not though. i have been looking for some nitrous for mine cause i need it to clear up all that smoke! lol. let me know next time yer in town. see ya
Morse 03-07-2005, 10:22 PM Hey greg.. I don't think you have much to worry about with your buddy and the 7.3.. There are some fast ones around the country, though it's just not one of the engines to beat right now.. I'm coming in hopefully in a month or so, though I'll be driving my dodge.. I don't remember when the track opens there, though if it's open I'll meet ya there.. It won't be that quick.. Mine's a 2wd dually.. Still be fun though..
Morse 03-08-2005, 12:26 PM By the way, do you know anyone around Owensboro that can O-ring the head on this cummins?? Kinda scared not to go ahead and do it to begin with...
greg24v 03-08-2005, 08:36 PM hey morse, the dragstrip opens saturday the 12th of march. let me know when yer gonna be there and ill meet ya there or somethin. i wont be racing my truck though because i need a 4wd light indicator( or something like that) i tore the wire and plug off the front axle a while back when i got stuck in the snow. i will be drivin my truck though. i dont know of ne body around here that can o ring a head on a cummins but i can find out if there is ne body around here 2morrow. see ya , Greg
John DiMartino 03-09-2005, 10:54 AM Morse, o-ring the head, run a .020 over head gasket, and the ARP head studds. If your capable of fabbing your own twins, you can use your stock turbo as a secondary, and pick up a new HT3B for 450 or less, and probably have under 2000 in your twins.Youll need an external wastegate, and all the piping, and boots.I have the PDR twins,(well really Nates twins). If i were to do it over id build them myself,or buy them directly from Nathan Wright.Mark Kendrick has a kit also, hes using the B2 on the bottom, which has some flow advantages,as well as being shorter, which improves oil filter access. As for the transmission,do it once,do it right,a TC and VB will NOT hold the power your going to make. Call DTT and go with the best.Id try to find a 215hp pump.If you want to run 370s with your pump you will beneift from a set if delivery valves.
Cummins0104 03-09-2005, 07:13 PM Whereabouts in Ky are u guys....I just moved to Wilder like 2 weeks ago......oh and i got my new 22" wheels.....lol.....
greg24v 03-10-2005, 12:36 AM i live in Owensboro, Ky. Theres some diesel drags coming up on may 7th in Bowling Green,Ky also.
VOODOO TRUCKER 03-10-2005, 02:04 PM To start with the 12v is probably the cheapest and safest diesels to bomb. It also has the most performance parts options of any of them. I would first recommend pyro and boost gauges, then exhaust, fuel plate, 3 or 4000* rpm governor springs, advance injection timing 15-18+, 370 marine inj. and 191 delivery valves. The above parts should net you 300+ H.P. gain over stock. This can be done for about $1500-1700 if you do the labor your self. You can knock off about 195 bucks if you grind your own fuel plate. To make a #0 plate grind the profile flat. The only weak link to seeing any of that power to the ground is your stock slush box. Its maxed out above 250 H.P. and the power sucking vampire of a TC. will start to make more heat then transfering the power. Really the best investment you can make if your planning to make big power is getting a fully built trans. All the engine mods in the world will due you no good if cant get it to the ground. Im not going to recommend a trans builder on this thread because I forgot my flack jacket today. Spend the time and reaserch tranny builders. The cake to all this is the cheap HP mods, the hard part is swollowing the cost of the trans. Also too many trips above 45 lbs. of boost you may start having head gasket issues. And the the HX35 efficiency range starts to fall off rapidly above 38 lbs of boost. Good LUck.
Cummins0104 03-11-2005, 02:50 PM Hey greg..i live in Wilder, KY right across the river from Cincy......let me know a lil more info on some of the pulls and stuff goin on down that way and maybe i'll see ya down there(my truck won't be performinghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif) BTW im goin to Terra Haute in Aug. Im getting a buncha my buddies to kinda convoy up there...if ya wanna tag along and throw in on one of the hotel rooms thats cool wit me bro.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/cool2.gif
greg24v 03-13-2005, 01:51 AM hey cummins0104, do u have ne pics of yer truck u can put on here so maybe ill know what yer truck looks like so i can come and find you at ts performance's open house. its on saturday may 6th. i dont really know where wilder or cincy is at but i will be at ts when they have their races, i dont think iam going to race though. later , Greg
DavidTD 03-13-2005, 10:22 AM Morse,
If I remember correctly didn't you get Gov. springs and timing from Jeff?
Do not buy a 215 pump. If you need more than 650 - 700 hp then you can start looking at pumps. Yours will do fine.
Cummins0104 03-15-2005, 11:18 PM Okay here are some pics.....I installed the sun visors myself tonight. Took me about 2hrs cuz i had a retarded assistant(not really just dumb)http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif!!! And the head-unit i've had for a while. Anyways where is the TS performance open...? I may have some more stuff done to my truck, depending, I may race. Dont know just yet!
Cummins0104 03-15-2005, 11:27 PM Sry...Go check in the sticky thread (PICS PLEASE)...
