left is the fuel inlet valve I removed from my IP. Right is the one I put back in. Although the photo is blurry, I think it is visible that the one on the right has a screen of sorts on the bottom. The one on the left has no screen. Was there an update to the part at some point, or has mine been removed for some reason?

Some have it some don't. it just pulls out also, depends who was in there before you that might have removed it, as I think they all come from Stanadyne with it, maybe Diesel Pro can weigh in on instances he's seen of it with one vs without, but it missing won't impact the way IP operates.
