I am looking to swap my 8.1L for a lb7 motor and i found one on here and it is a 2002 and i didnt no if my allison that i already have will work with the 2002 or not, i no the older lb7 dont have the overd drive lock out and didnt no if that would be the problem. May be the swap will work i dont no but in information any body can give me will be more than i no.

I don't know for 100%, but I seem to recall he transmissions are the same, but the controllers have different programs.

I also don't know for sure, but I would assume you'd need a new bell housing to mate up to the Diesel.

Anyone know if the bell housing bolts to the LB7 and the 8.1?

Converter and TCM tune are all that needs to change.

I was gonna say the same. And, while you're buying a convertor it's a good time to step it up. The stock convertor is a weak link anyhow. Is your 8.1 in running condition? Are you selling it? Where are you located?

I am located in centeral IL. near springfield. My truck is a White ext. cab short bed GMC with about 53,000 miles on it. Truck runs real good, i can beat my bros lly stock on stock. The insurece agent told me that my truck was rated excellent condition. And it could be up for sale either one.(have to talk to dad). Thanks and goth2o r u interested in buying my truck?

ok well my dad might put it in a 69 dodge we have but i told him u might be interesed and he said lets get the new motor first and then i will send u a offer.
