right as i'm coming to a stop, always under 5 mph to the point of actually stopping, i have a clinking sound (almost sounds like tapping a wrench on the driveshaft) usually just one or two sometimes three in a row and its only at the point of stopping. And its not all the time. In the past few days, i hear it as i am accelerating only its a whole lot faster clinking type sound. I let off for a few seconds, it goes away. Again, not every time. I have no idea what it could be. I cant wiggle the driveshaft or anything like that. It sounds like it coming from the transfer case area. Could the chain be stretched or really loose? I've never had one apart so i don't know how things exacty work in there. I'm guessing i'll get no responses but maybe someone on here has had something similar happen. Thanks

how many miles do you have on your u joints? sometimes there wont be any wobble to them because they are rusted solid, can you feel any vibration?

i'm not sure on the miles but both on the driveshaft have been replaced since it was new and both now have grease zerks and i grease them at each oil change. I'm still thinking that its got something to do with the transfer case but i'm not sure yet. I can feel no vibration at all. I guess whatever it is can only get worse!

i have not seen that. it won't hurt to try but have more of a clink sound than a clunking....

Glad I checked here! That is exactly the same noise mine is making right now. I think I'll let the stealer deal with it. Thanks again DP!

i finally pulled my driveshaft off, the splines had plenty of lube, the shaft moved freely, u-joints were fine. I still don't know what the problem is. It can only get worse, making it easier to pinpoint.
