During a recent oil change I noticed that the engine oil cooler lines are leaking. It appears to be coming from the crimp where the aluminum line and rubber hose meet. I figured that I'd need a set of new OEM lines. Looking from underneath, it seems like it would be impossble to replace the entire lines because of all the stuff near where the lines connect to the block?
So I hit the search button and didn't find any threads in the past 6 months that are related to '01-'02 6.0L but I did see something mentioned about cutting off the lines near the crimp, install compression fittings and a pair of new hydraulic hoses. Is this preferable method for this repair? I'm a bit leary of compression stuff being used with something under pressure but if it does work very well then I would be willingly to do it.
If so, what size and type of compression fittings will I need? Also what size hydraulic hoses?
