I made the Diagnostic Checklist Version 1.8 onto a Excel spreadsheet. I would like input for improvements. Maybe all of you think it is not needed or a waste of time. Please tell me and let me know what you think. It has alot of room for improvement and I need the help from all of you experts on the 6.5 Turbo Diesel. I would like to make the sheet have drop downs for every catagory, but dont have enough knowledge about the 6.5 TD to make it all by myself.
Thanks,

I would have liked to see the year and model first.
Some visual formating (white space) and Canada is missing from the location (item 38) in the key!
I've included my edits document on a second sheet.

I like the drop downs!

Corolla,
Thanks for the input! I am sorry I did forget Canada, It has been fixed! I will have to agree I also do like the truck facts in the begining. I did make the changes you recommended, I still would like for more people to review and give me feed back.
Thanks, Corolla!!!

Is there anything in there about checking the oil and coolant levels & changing the fuel filter as a first step. With the new fuel it's amazing how many times I've had problems that went away immediately upon changing the fuel filter.

jrsavoie - good call on the often over looked basics, that be included.

Ed - from where he is he can't see us.

jrsavoie - What I am doing with this is copying what we already have, The Diagnostic Checklist Version 1.8. Doing the basics like checking oil in my eyes is something that you should already know how to do. I could add when your last oil change was, but what does that have to do with a diagnostic checklist on a broke down vehicle? I am attempting to make the DCV1.8 easier to use without disrespecting the original owner(s).

To all the folks on Diesel Place that live in Canada, I am sorry that I forgot you on my list. It has now been added.

Thanks for all the great input.

I would still like input on all the drop downs, Do they give you the right choices? Do I need to take away or add?

Mnay folk when looking for a problem forget the basics. First you check the oil & coolant then you check the fuel filter. Quite often you will have a little more info immediately. Also many people don't check their fluids as often as they should so I say that should be a number one thing to do. If they start there they definately aren't out anything and could very possibly be far ahead.
Just my opinion. But I'll stick with my line of thinking that these items should be listed as the first things they do.

What that might have to do with a broke down vehicle is maybe the oil is funny colored or very low or overfull. How did it get overfull? Maybe the coolant is discolored or low. A fast check might very well give a person a bit of information. At the very least it would tell you all is well there for just a couple of minute investment.
The time & milage of the last oil change isn't a bad idea either.
