Hello,

My name is Pete and I'm new to this forum. Like you guys, I'm into diesels and ever since I drove my first one at a dealership last year, I could not stop thinking about it.

Can you guys tell me the good and the bad about the Duramax engine?

Thank you for all of your answers.

Pete..:)

The good news is it is the most flawless engine designed, IMHO.....Bad news is once you join this website, you will buy the new truck and you will never have enough power/money. (you'll spend it all on mods.)

Well since I work at the plant where the Crew cab truck is built i can honestly say 7 out of every 10 trucks that run off the end of that line have Dmax/allison in them

Good unit. Read through here and you'll see than most problems detailed on on vehicles that have many modifications to enhance performance. You're buying a truck, not a race car. If hot performance is what you want buy a Corvette, a Mercedes AMG or something of that nature. Leave her stock and chances are you won't get left by the side of the road.

I 2nd that... a high percentage of the problems outlined on this forum are results of aftermarket upgrades. The duramax is the most powerful on the market right now the last time I checked so if you are happy with that then go ahead and buy one, you won't be disappointed.
