I noticed that the indicator for the air filter was in the red, pushed the button and sure enough it reset. Checked the Air filter and it was dirty, needed replaced. Next day bought a replacement filter (OEM, no aftermarket). Put the new one in and drove to town and back, about a 10 mile round trip. I got on it a little to see if the new filter made any difference in power. The indicator was sucked in again. I do have a HYPERTECH Power Programmer III (Hey it was free!!!). My question is, do I need to upgrade to an aftermarket filter because of the programmer. Am I starving the engine for air because of the stock filter restricting the air flow. I just read the form on the aftermarket filters not really worth the money unless you are putting out some serious horses, and the fact that they let past a lot of dirt into the engine. I live in the country and drive on gravel roads often. I want the most out of my engine, but don't want to hurt it either. Any ideas or comment would be great! Thanks

I don't even use the indicator for that reason. I pull my filter out every week or 2 and give it a little tap on the concrete. If it's really dirty I will replace it but if a little dust comes out I just leave it alone.

Moved to Maintenance section. You will get better responses here!

Did your new filter have the glue stripes on tha back side of it? If not, then you got a filter for a gasser and it will cause restriction. The stock filter is goot to around 500 hp, so you have nothing to worry about assuming you have the right one installed.

Stock filter flows pretty go. Just no visual "bling".

Thats a good way to get a lot of dust in your engine and thats about it.
