What sold me on the Mag-Hytec differential cover and Trans pan was the fact they come with a built in gasket so there's no need for goopy silicone in order to get a good seal. Other products didn't have this feature. I'm pretty sure Mag-Hytec has a patent on their gasket feature.

The O-ring is a nice feature. I'm not sure about the temperature difference...I mainly installed it for the extra fluid capacity - 7.5 quarts v. 4 quarts with OE cover.

An informal test on my old Dodge before and after installing the Mag-Hytec diff lid showed a noticeable difference. Putting my hand on the axle after taking the same trip in similar weather, before and after the cover swap, I noticed the axle was cooler to the touch after the swap. I know, not very scientific, but there was a difference. Besides, adding fluid capacity and making mantenance easier with the new cover in place are also big bonus features, especially if you do lots of heavy towing or have some serious HP.

well more fluid should theoreticlly (sp) make it cooler. it has a dip stick, magnetic drian plug and temp port. i just put one on mine but haven't driven it yet to tell a difference.

let em know if can help you w/ one.

resurect an old thread here... was changing my rear diff fluid today and couldn't remember capacity. So here I am... I put a temp sensor on my factory diff cover, then swapped it out for the mag-hytech one from XDP. For the temps, when pulling a trailer, I noticed it takes longer for the rear end fluid to reach max temp. Also when towing it seems as if the rear end is always pretty close to the same temp as the trans. I also have an Alli deep pan on my trans. its been too many miles to remember what the actual temps were with factory rear end cover. I bought the rear end cover to ease maintance and liked the drain plug and magnetic dipstick.
