I spoke to Nate at DSTRBD about the DPF delete on the phone yesteday and I am still on the fence. I really only want better mileage and do not care about more horsepower, torque, etc. (Curently getting a little over 16 mpg). The price was not an issue (cheaper than expected) for the MBRP turbo back and quadzilla, but I am really worried about warranty issues, reliability, and to a lesser extent, sound. I only have a little over 6,000 miles and I have not yet gotten to that comfort level with the truck to be confident enough that I will likely not have warranty type repairs that could be denied because of the quadzilla tuner and exhaust mods. This is my 3rd diesel truck and I have never done mods in any way, shape, or form before. However, I am really desperate to get better mileage. (The gas mileage thing also helps me justify it to the wife). I also do not want a truck that sounds like a hot rod, drones while going down the highway or pulling a camper. I also do not enjoy seeing black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Should I wait until the truck is more "broke in" or possibly a better way to do what I want? Has anyone on here actually been denied warranty repairs because of no DPF and a DPF delete tune? Looking for some reassurance before I do this.

Just do it! I have done a lot of modifications to my truck, and i honestly think getting rid of the DPF was one of the best mods. I have the MBRP 5 inch turbo back and with the muffler it is very quiet unless you are at WOT. When cruising at freeway speeds I cant even hear it. I think almost all of the warranty problems have been caused by the DPF. I am willing to bet most people who have removed the DPF have had very little issues.

I just installed the same mbrp system.

Cons: Smell. I am not used to the diesel exhaust. It was nice not having it with a dpf.

Pros: Better power. Better mileage.

It will only smoke if you drive it to smoke it. I have had fun the last few days rippin on my pedal (b/c diesel is so cheap) and it only smokes when you really give it the fuel.

The noise isn't that loud. I just came back from a 1000 mile trip pullin a trailer and it isn't annoying. You hear the turbo more but thats about it. The hiss at idle is there too but its not like its bad.

Thats my opinion. I love mine. I am getting better mileage. I hate the smell of diesel exhaust because I am not used to it. There is tons of stuff all over DP about this very issue.

Glad to hear someone say the 5" is pretty quiet for normal driving unless on it. Had a hard time deciding between 4" or 5". Figured I would be disappointed with a 4" so went all out. Just got mine in today from Nate for the weekend install once I get efi live setup with Nick. I hope efilive is tomorrow so I can get the info to Nick and can get it installed this weekend. Heading to Florida in few weeks and will see how it does for 900miles straight through. Doing 19mpg plus now with DPF. Maybe 21mpg if lucky.

which mbrp system did you order? is it the lbz 5" system?

Ordered 6020AL turboback. Most places only list this under LBZ or earlier due to removal DPF.

I was on the fence also same reasons, warranty wife. I went to my dealer first they told me no prob next the war department not much trouble there also. Ive had it about a month now and man its sweet. Dont expect your mpg to improve till youv had it awhile if your anything like me I was always romping on it just cause I could. But then after that its doesdo better on fuel. Smoke is not so bad I run on 90 hp there can be a little if you lug it or step on it and get going real fast.

I typically tow my boat with a 400 rwhp tune from duramaxtuners.com and it doesnt really smoke at all. It will smoke a little at WOT from a start but very minimal.

i also just installed the 5" full exhaust from mbrp. Fitment was so-so since it really isn't made for the LMM, so the hangers and what not didn't match up. but the exhaust still holds up and fits fine.
just need a little EFI Live now :)

Got mine installed this weekend. All hangers worked out for me except the one on the downpipe. Ended up weld on a 1/2 rod to the 4" clamp and supported in the hanger there next to it. Other than that and putting the muffler in backwards all went well. Sounds great and EFILive tune is working well.
