I looked at my hitch and on the back side found that one of the welds has broke loose. I took it to the dealer and the only solution that they could give " GM policy is to re-weld and add a few extra beads for strength " I told them that I would not be satisfied with that. After speaking to the Service Dept Manager for an hour, he stood strong. I took it to the next level and called GM I was told pretty much the same thing, that the hitch was to be welded. Am I crazy or is this a real fix for the problem. What should I do if about this, I thought I would ask the experts and see if anyone has herd of this or seen it.

Have not heard of or seen it personally, but the guys in our body shop certainly can put a good weld on that would be as good if not better than original. I would not have a problem with that fix if done properly.

Have not run into the problem, but over a 175 dollar part? If it even cost that much.

Several of the guys on here have replaced the OEM hitch because of strength concerns. Most seem to prefer to go aftermarket and get a hitch they trust rather that fool with it. Can you say Titan V?
