I recently rebult my 6.2L in a GMC Suburban. After putting it back in the truck, I noticed that there are 2 marks on the engine instead of one, where you line up the injection pump mark with the engine mark. I am not sure which one to use, so I lined the injec pump mark between the other 2 marks. Now it seems that the injec pump timing needs to be retarded because it cracked my starter casing, however I do no know which way to turn the pump. Does anyone know if you are looking from the front of the engine to the rear, which direction the injection pump should be rotated in order to retard the timing?

Jade, if you are standing in front of the truck,looking down at the pump,you would turn the top of the pump to the passenger side to retard the timing. the pump turns opposite of crank&cam direction. I hope this helps. Willy.
