Do any of you guys run amsoil? how long can i actually go without changing the oil using this oil? they say 25000 for normal use and 15000 for severe vehicles or 1 year whichever comes first? just looking for some input. they say this holds when teamed up with their filter too.

I dont run amsoil, there oil is very good oil. You need to run there bypass filter setup on your rig to run the extended drain intervals, and you need routine regular samples when you would normally change your oil,you sample instead, add makeup oil,and change the filters. I dont believe there setup is the way to go if you do a lot of short trips where the engine doesnt get hot,as the oil will load up with moisture and fuel dilution before its worn out.If you rack up miles quickly, are willing to risk the factory warranty, and are willing to sample,i dont think you can go wrong.

correct you will need a bypass filter to max your intervals. I have gone 15k on amsoil HDD5-30 in my gasser and the EAO oil filter. Yes I run diesel oil in my gasser

how much is this bypass filter???

You don't need a bypass filter to get extended drains, just need to run the EaO filter to get to the 15k/25k. With a bypass filter and sampling you can run much farther than 25k. Call Heath, he'll set you up and answer all of your questions.
I just had an analysis done on mine after 15k and the results were, continue to run, sample again in 8k-10k miles.

What wrecker said. No need for the bypass if running 15-25k depending on your driving conditions. I might still take a sample or two during your first long run to see how it's perfoming.
I'll be honest and be the first to admit I've seen vehicles that won't go that far based on analysis. Not sure why. My 05 Chevy equinox will not go beyond 10000 with the TBN dropping below 2. The oil smells terrible, like exhaust, right after it's changed. I took it in to see if the EGR was failing or something, but no go there.
I'm just glad I was running our product with the high tbn to begin with. Using a regular oil with at tbn of 7 or 8 might not last half as long.
That being said, I've also seen vehicles go 15-25k with no problem. That's why I mention doing a sample just to see if you have one of those "quirky" engines.

No Diesel oil has a TBN of 7 or 8. Maybe gas oil but not Diesel oil.
Rotella has a 10.0 TBN, Delvac 10.5 and Delo 11.5.
Lucas contains 14.0 and is the highest TBN on the market. TBN though doesn't mean everything.

I just got a bigger Wix filter. All the circle track guys I know that run Amsoil use a Wix filter.

He was just asking about oil for his gasser so that's what I was referring to. As far as tbn, that's correct, but it was the rate limiting factor in the results I was referring to...that's all.

Although you may not NEED to run a bypass for extended drain intervals,in most cases it is to your advantage to run the bypass filter if your going to extend the drain interval,I do not like the idea of filtering down to smaller particles with a full flow filter, just too much risk of restriction and the resuliting filter bypassing and eventual engine damage than comes with it.In some cases underhood room is tight or access to the oil feed difficult,or they dont want the risk of a blown oil pressure hose. That aside, bypass filters are great, they are easy to test, and do there job slowly, but very effectively. Most of my trucks, and mowers run Shaffers or Lucas oil,and smome have bypass filters, those that do,you can visably see the oil stay cleaner longer, and the samples always come back better on those engines with reguard to contaminates.
