I have a 2001 GMC 2500HD W/ Duramax. Empty, on the interstate it will get about 17 mpg. Pulling a 8,000# travel trailer at 65-70 mph it will get about 10-11 mpg. Truck is stock except for 4" Dynamax exhaust. I have a few longer trips planned for the summer, and with fuel hitting $5.00/gallon mileage is a concern (duh). Any simple mods a guy can do to increase mileage without sacrificing performance?
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
RB

I pull an 11,500 lb 5th wheel that is 12' tall. From St. Louis to Land Between the Lakes State Park in KY, I have gotten a little over 14 mpg on more than one trip. Biggest help was driving down the center of Illinois and their 55 mph speed limit for anybody pulling a trailer. Anything over 55 in my rig and I can watch the mpg drop significantly.

55 helps your dollar survive! Speed costs money, only drive as fast as you can afford!

Have you tried the huge electromagnet on the front bumper? Just get up close behind a semi, activate it then shift into N and enjoy the benefits of 350 mpg!

(Until the trucker stops and beats you to paste...)
