I am intrested improving my gas milage without having to dump allot of coin into the truck. I went up one size in tires last fall and the miliage droped about 1.5-2 miles per gallon. Not a huge deal but it would be nice to get back up to the 19-21 range. I have got over 21 with the truck once with the old tires, stiff tail wind at 60 mph. I don't need anymore power out of the truck, it has more than enough to do what I do with it. I was disapointed to read about the Fram oil filters, I have 4 at home, bought them on sale. Anybody burning the Valvoline Blue oil? How much should one pay for Wix filters?

did you have your speedo calibrated after changing tire sizes? Generally going up a size in tires keeps the truck in a lower rev range and improves fuel milage as long as they arent wide heavy tires.

Those were my thoughts as well.
cjthor -- it sounds like you're getting pretty good mileage overall. The only suggestion I have is going 55 instead of 60. :D

Tall skinny tires like 235's might help. If you're getting 20 hwy then you're within range of the good ones. My '00 will get 20 at any speed (up to 80) on the hwy. My best is 23 plus but that was at 65 or less and its hard for me to go that slow for so long. I get 16 at 70 with my Ranger bass boat in tow.

My mileage has not been above low 14's running empty, usually highway (not interstate) trips around 50-60 mph. Took truck into dealer as it was missing at 2,000 rpm's under load occasionally. I was worried about bad injector. Dealer tested all and re-flashed computer. Now getting 17mph on same trips and fuel usage by the fuel gauge is lower as well. Have not hand calculated as of yet. Hopefully re-flash will help others if they have same problem. Truck has 9500 miles on it so hopefully mileage will still get a little better.

My mileage has been getting better and better. The reflash did help. My last trip with the cruise control set at 80 with a load I was getting an average of a bit over 18 mpg. I have just under 17k miles.
