I have been thinkin about gettin the AEM Brute Force HD for my LMM since it has a metal intake tube (I want the most sound out of the turbo i can get). But i know that S&B is prob the best out there...that being said what if I got the AEM intake and bought a S&B replacement filter to go on it?

First off - it's for anybody to say that they stop "as small as" 1 micron. All ISO test dust (coarse or fine) has a mix of micron ratings from 1 to 10. With that said, just testing with ISO dirt allows you to say you can stop "as small as" 1 micron of dirt. It's like some of our competition's use of the word "up to" in their dyno numbers. It's just marketing and very misleading to the consumer.

It's also very common knowledge that the dry filters just don't stop the dirt. Take a close look at the AEM tests and you'll see that it was tested at 240CFM. I don't know about your truck, but I don't see too many diesels (or even cars for that matter) that operate at 240 CFM! Follow this link to view AEM's test results that they had performed. The more CFM you throw at a filter, the harder it is for that filter to stop the dirt. This is why a company will test at a low CFM rate, as this will improve their efficiency results. S&B tests their products at the rated flow of the engine in stock form, so you get an accurate "apples to apples" comparision.
