I was under the impression that if brake fluid was to get on brake pads (soaked pads) they become ineffective and should be replaced.
Am I correct and have I been told correct information?
Dealership is telling me no need to replace pads that have been soaked with brake fluid. "Washing them off is just fine."
Thanks for your help!

Washing them off with BrakeKlean or equivalent is a safe practice, BUT I would insist on replacement pads only if they begin to make noise after washing. Brake fluid will make the disc brakes "grabby" or noisy if they are not cleaned well.

I was told that no matter how well you clean them when they heat up brake fluid will begin to seep out causing the very problem you listed.

Considering what happened I'm surprised they are giving you grief over a set of warranty pads. I'd be making sure I had new ones.

I am also surprised they are not covering the 80 day old pads. They are also not covering the tow truck for $198!
$290 is all I am asking for (pads and tow)! Not a new truck!

Are you sure it's brake fluid?
If on the rear brakes, is it really axle lube?

No, I am 100% sure it was brake fluid with failed brake line in hand. :(

I already had to replace on of the rear axle seals as well. :(

Since you have EBC pads, why not E-mail or call EBC, and get it from the horse's mouth????

I just got the reply from EBC.
Subject: Enquiry to EBC Brakes
I would not install pads that had fluid on them, the pads sweat and absorb
the fluid and cause brakes to be uneven and fade under load.
I am afraid you will have to replace them

Yeah, saturated brake pads are never a good thing.
I just had to replace the brakes on my trailer because they were saturated from all the axle seals going bad. The trailer wouldn't help stop at all when the brakes were saturated. It is pretty common sense though that when oil gets on pads, they will be slick.

I agree 100% with you. The F'd up thing, my GMC service department does not have the same line of thought! Just want to make sure I was not be out of line for wanting to replace my brand new EBC pads.
