I have noticed lately that my mileage seems less than before.

Currently get about 17-18

used to get 20-22

Also seems like i have to press the accelator more to get the same power.

Could this be a semi clogged fuel filter?

The filter has been on for about 7-8k miles.

The warmer dryer air will not make as much power as cool damp air. That could be part of the reason for lower power! Fuel Filter? why don't you change it and see?

How often should you change fuel filter?

Some change at every oil change-- some only change once a year, and some wait until they have problems. So pick one! I think the book says 10,000 miles. Filters are cheap-- injectors and pumps are VERY expensive. :)

Just wondering, I had to change my fuel filter yesterday because the DIC said to. But I noticed the MPGs dropping by 1-2 mpg a week after the DIC said the filter was at 0% life. Power seemed to drop a little too. I know it has been said that dirty filters are the cause of a lot of issues, but I never understood why.
Why does a dirty filter cause a power loss and mileage loss? It seems that it would have to flow the same amount of fuel, just maybe not the right pressure?

My fuel filter is currently showing 35% life, are you guys recommending fuel filter change? I just bought the truck 3 weeks ago. How many filters are on the truck 1or 2? Which one to change?

One on the passenger side front. If you go to the Do it yourself section there are good write ups with pics.

get a strap wrench. Not the metal strap, a nylon strap wrench works best, IMO

Look sto be anywhere from 46.00 to 69.00 depending on what you want. This is local pricing in Colorado.

It was close to $40 for the filter.

I buy them by the case from www.fleetfilter.com (http://www.fleetfilter.com)

I do heavy miles so a case lasts me just over a half year.

BTW here is the type of strap wrench I use.

Check your air filter, most likely the culprit. Dont just eyeball it in the light either, tap it out so you get an idea how dirty it is. I replace mine every spring due to salt build up in the filter. You can see through the salt in the light but the filter is still plugged.

This thread was moved to Maintenance and Fluids. It fits in better here, and keeps the site much more organized. Thanks.
