I'm adding in another fuel filter and i'm leaning towards making it a primary filter but am going to put it after the lift pump, i've picked up the housing and filter with drain. Does anyone know the line size that comes into the factory filter. I'm thinking i'd like to put the filter before the factory one for ease of changing and then maybe only have to change the factory filter every second time i change the one i add in. I just changed my factory filter and it was BLACK!

I installed a Perma cool along the bed rail ( cut fuel line and used
small hose couplings, Flared the fuel line slightly to get a tight fit)

I installed filter pre-lift pump, as both racor and perma cool say water seperator function works better this way.

ProbleM; Pressure would drop to zero on HARD pull ( did not seem to affect eng operation ) so I installed a second lift pump
( between tank and add on filter ) that I can turn on by a sw on th dash.

On rare occasion that fuel pressure drops , I turn on sw.
Also nice for Bleeding Air.

" Fuel Pressure gage on dash, good mod, I can tell when any
Hic cups occur , that they are not fuel supply related.

I change main filter 1 x per year, before winter, 2nd filter 2x per year (10000miles) rear is VERY black, front is ussualy not to bad. AND I do get water/dirt out of aux filter , never got any
water out of OEM drain.

I KNOW, OVERKILL, But I like gages.....

Installed Racor on the frame rail before lift pump. Cut the fuel right behinfd the filter and used a spring bender and bent the line around to the inlet and outlet of the filter. Used compression fittings but would use flare if I was going to do it again. Makes for a OEM looking install.

A fellow dragracer gave me a Perma-cool filter holder so I purchased a CAT filter and replaced the leaky stock filter housing with it. I mounted it on the firewall above where the stock filter sat. I call it a "Nicktane" because it was his idea first (maybe he will forgive me for this). His is a much neater and more organized installation. I don't think any company can equal the CAT filter in filtration quality or size especially for the money. I intend to change it once a year. I replaced the old hoses with longer new ones and put 90* L's on the filter holder. On the opposite side of the filter holder I put a valve like the one on the thermostat housing only with pipe threads for bleeding the filter. The water in fuel warning lite does not work anymore but with a filter that is over twice as big I really did not care.
