Ok, got those painfull break in miles done):h and now it's time to change fluids, do I change the rear diff to GM's Grape juice or is the Synthetic Amsoil OK? I run the Amsoil in the front and run mobile 1 in the engine and snythetic in the trans and transfer case on my other trucks, but what is the lube of choice for that rear diff, the 2x+ cost per Qt is just a tad nuts:eek: but if thats my only choice so be it. Fire away with the good, the bad and any other thoughts.

This will cause me to put on the fire suit but what the heck:lol: A few guys pay the $25 a quart for the grape juice because they are concerned about warranty issues which is fine. But I really doubt that anyone has many warranty issues anyway. Of course I put Amsoil Sever Gear in mine and highly recommend it, but their is nothing wrong with Mobile either. You can buy all most enough to do a change of either of these brands for what one quart of grape juice cost. But to each his own. Amsoil has been in my 95 6.5TD K2500 front and rear for 177K miles and still going strong.

I put the RP in my trucks rear end after I had the pumkin seals on the drive shaft replaced due to leaking oil under warrenty.
I have not had any issues with the RP in being in there. I am sure you will not have any issues with Amsoil either. But this is another "I am sure" sure case.
The best way to handle this is to get it in writing from the dealer you deal with.

Yup- list is like 32/qt, thats why the question, Amsoil is 11/qt, I don't mind if I get what I pay for but just cause it says GM is it worth double? Call the dealer yesterday and they said we use valvoline??? So who knows. I think it's Amsoil for me.

I put Amsoil in mine just yesterday. It meets the specs of GL-5 which is what GM calls for in the rear diff. SInce it meets the specs listed then there should be no warranty issues with using it. And if for some reason GM claims it is the cause for failure you could always have the gear oil tested to see if it has broken down.

Grape Juice = GM worlds largest automotive manf.
Amsoil = Amway toilet cleaner products
Grape Juice in mine thank you.
No offense meant to Amsoil users, just my Mom used Amway cleaners around the house (1960's) and I just cant get the connection out of my head.

Amsoil is only $7.30 a quart. So to do front and rear is $51.55 total. It might be toilet cleaner but its damm good toilet cleaner.;) ):h
