: Anybody know what's new for 06.
bigblockquad 02-16-2005, 03:28 AM Well after passing the realestate exam on my third try:eek: I was talking with my tax guy. He mentioned that I can now right off another 4 door that has a GVWR of 6001+ lbs.
Here's my dilemma. I am seriously thinking about the Suncoast tranny upgrade but am now thinking of waiting and, when the 06's come out, trading mine in. I've heard their gonna have a 6spd ally, more power, and a different look.
Anybody else know of the changes/addons the 06's might come with? Is it worth the wait?

Rich.
LanduytG 02-16-2005, 05:57 AM I know for sure the 6 speed will be in the truck because my son in law is working on that project. Also it will have MORE POWER!!. Don't know about body sytle changes.

jeazor 02-16-2005, 07:51 AM CAn't wait to get the specs on the 06's sounds like maybe the 6speed ally will hold more power too, so I've heard in the rumor mill, lol.
aprr454 02-16-2005, 05:09 PM The local paper in my parts said 07' is going to be the next big retool of the HD. But it could be wrong.
Ben46a 02-16-2005, 05:34 PM My Salesman (fleet manager for Largest GM dealer in the Province) Said that 06 will have Styling changes for tahoes, yukons, and suburbans, And that pickups will be "upgraded" in 07.
converted6.6 02-16-2005, 07:47 PM you can bet on a big price increase as well!
mahalkita 02-16-2005, 09:59 PM The LLYs have more power than LB7 (at least on paper) - but is it really a better engine? To squeeze even more power out of the current one you can get a good programmer or another box.
And if GM does really change the design it will be more ugly IMHO. I would take an 05 for a good price and upgrade that one with the money saved for an 06 - nothing gets really that much better, only more fancy and unreliable...
:exactly::exactly::exactly:
bigblockquad 02-16-2005, 11:00 PM Here's my thinking:
1. More power is always good.
2. One more gear hopefully equals better mileage.
3. It's gonna be a tax write-off.
The bad parts:
1. It's probably gonna be at least a little more expensive.
2. Unknown on what its gonna look like.
3. Don't know if I can wait that long w/o putting more to it.
That's my dilemma.:help:

mole177 02-16-2005, 11:51 PM How much of a write off can you get for the truck?
BH in AZ 02-17-2005, 01:32 AM A couple of possibe changes for 2006 mentioned in some other threads are:
- A secondary fuel filter and maybe a lift pump???
- A cooling system change in response to the overheating reported by some LLY owners.
If these rumors turn out to be true, it would be great if they can be fitted to the 2004.5 and 2005 years.

And HD's a year later...
duramaxdiesel 02-17-2005, 01:54 PM Boy I hope they make the HD look like a HD. Sure, they brought back the power bulge for MY '05 but it needs more.
Scotty Seelen 02-17-2005, 04:41 PM Starting with tires would help. Ford and Dodge come with 265's when ordering the non dually, while GM is still stuck on those puny 245's.
converted6.6 02-17-2005, 07:35 PM yeah, the stock tires really suck ! I took mine off after about a month. Also a buddy of mine replaced his before he left the dealership. bfg anything would be an idea!!
duramaxdiesel 02-17-2005, 10:52 PM Yeah, that too. 265's should be the norm for these trucks.
aka108 02-18-2005, 09:09 AM Hope they don't raise the cab or bed height any. Got to be able to get the things in Las Vegas parking decks.
weaverism 02-18-2005, 06:42 PM Hope they don't raise the cab or bed height any. Got to be able to get the things in Las Vegas parking decks. They should offer a high clearance option for us country boys who spent a lot of time in the dirt and have never seen a parking garage. I know of quite a few sales they have lost because of sitting too low to the ground.
Gray Max 02-19-2005, 06:14 PM I believe the 07's will have a new Dmax to meet the new federal emmisions laws. That to me means more BS under the hood to increase heat and crap to go wrong.:badidea: I have heard there is also a retool of the exterior and interior. Maybe GM will opt. for some aluminum wheel on the 3500's. I'm probably getting an 05 this spring and hate having to spend more $ for alcoa's:mad: . O'well I guess that's life.

maybe a package that competes with the powerwagon setup (in a diesel)? that would be fun
aka108 02-19-2005, 07:50 PM Hi Weaver-- You havent't seen any country until you get out into NV,UT, WY, ID and MT. Now some of us do get out of the country and into the big city once in awhile and it's awful damn nice to put your big ol'truck in there with the Ferrari's and Lamborgini's and such. (Along with a lot of little compact rental cars) Haven't hung her up yet and been well of road in the high desert. They are high center of gravity enough. Why make it worse.
srode 02-19-2005, 07:51 PM GM got rid of the under hood light in 03, I have heard the hood is eliminated on the '06, along with some other non-essential parts...... :)
mahalkita 02-19-2005, 11:41 PM New tighter emission controls will require a diesel filter to filter out any smoke like Peugeot does since a few years. This will be very restrictive and very difficult to get rid of in case the diesel smog will be measured ...... We had very strict diesel smog checks since many years in Europe and I assume the U.S. will follow soon, especially if more and more diesels are on the way also for smaller trucks. DO NOT wait too long to buy a new truck!
:exactly:
Z71 Grizzly 02-20-2005, 12:11 AM This is what scares me about getting a Diesel . I hope I don't get checked all the time for emissions (I'll have aftermarket exhaust too)since it's probably going to be anally starting in the next year. Plus I hope they won't go around and make you put this and that on your truck because it's not emissions legal or something. I shouldn't be worrying though
Gray Max 02-21-2005, 08:48 AM Do ya think a 4'' straight pipe and EGR blocker plate will meet regulations):h . I agree, if you want to play you better do it this decade because it won't happen much longer.
AbsoluteGMC 02-21-2005, 02:00 PM A six speed allison is gonna be a really tight fit into a truck like that. The case is larger then the series 1000. Maybe a 3000 trv series might do it?
