Finished installing the Ottomind 6 today. Took way longer that I thought. Had a hard time getting the inner fender liner off. Not the serrated push pins it had the kind that exand after they are puched in. Ended up breaking quite a few tring to get them out. Drill and tapped for the thermocouple using the Hoot method. That part went ok. Took my time tapping the hole and tried the fitting for fit several times. Tight fit getting the 38 pin connectors in place.

Now on tranmission learning. Does the trany have to relearn everytime you switch between power levels? Is there any way to fast learn with the Banks?

Not really. Level 1 is stock so skip that one. Drive all the levels 2 throught level 6 make sure you good through all the gears a bunch of times in each level. I used to always run level 4, since that was the best level for mileage on the sixgun. It was a middle level so I did not worry if I go up to level 6. I have found out that level 2 the mileage level is actually the best level so far. If you run level 2 & want to go up to level 6 just see how the tranny shifts. I have not had a problem, but like I said I used to keep it in level 4 on the ottomind also.

Say Crash, Is there in way to have the PDA turn on automaticly when you start the engine?

The old version 1.7 would go into sleep mode. I would not go back to 1.7 they have some important fixes with the 1.8 & 2.0 software. If you had the sleep mode one on, then people could see your banks system at night if you park on the street. It also would drain the battery faster & life of the battery would not be as long. That is why they made it shut down automatically, but make you start it up. So no there is not.

Congratulations! Yeah, I had the roughest time with the firewall grommet...my last resort was using the serrated steak knife and it should have been my first choice...argh! For the transmission learning, you'll just need to drive so that the transmission completes about 5 to 10 shift cycles (up and down) for each power level starting with level 2. It may feel like the transmission is hunting for a gear the first couple of times that you switch to a new power level...no biggie.

X2 what Crashnburn mentioned about the auto-on feature for the PDA software. Versions 1.8 and then 2.0 seem to run much faster for me than v1.7. Have fun with it. Let us know what kind of fuel mileage you experience.

I`m hoping for some good responses to this thread. My truck is still stock and I get 20+ mpg now. My best has been 21.85 on a 400mi trip running 64mph on cruise m/t If ottomind can help me do better I may go for it or a custom tune by Kennedy. The gizmo factor with the Banks pda and on the fly choices for power are tipping me towards Banks ,lets see what kind of #s you can get. I know we all drive different but if you do better it stands that I may too.:)

Are those hand calced numbers? I know you have a 2wd which will get you better mileage, but that seams very high for a stock truck. What do you get in town for mileage?

I made as X shaped slit on the inside and I tried an tried to push the connectors through it to no avail. Then I took a 6" pice of round dowling and butted the largest connector up to it and spliced it together with electrical tape. I then incerted the dowel though the x on the outside gromet and was then able to follow the big wire bundle that goes though the center. Sould have thought of that first.

Yes all hand calculated. In town is as bad as anybody I but don`t use it as a grocery getter. I have a 26 mi one way drive to work which is combined county and state roads thru a medium size town average speed 32 to 39 depending if its early afternoon or early am.

Your mpg is right in line with my wife's C2500HD - we got just a hair over 22 mpg on our last trip to San Diego (~250 mile round trip), unloaded at 64 mph. I'm curious about the mpg increase, as well since the truck is still stock, and thinking of the Ottomind, too. I was able to achieve a 21.4 mpg with my K3500 on my last two 470 mile trips to Northern California on level 3 with the Six-Gun. I had mentioned to Crashnburn in an earlier post that I think the little bit of timing and pulse width really helped with my fuel economy on the dually at freeway speeds.

I need to run level 2 more. I have been keeping it on level 4. You got a really good stock truck man. That is for sure. :)

Its to early to tell yet but according to the DIC I've been getting close to 18 m.p.g. driving around town were before the Ottomind I was only getting 15 to 16 tops. Mine is a K3500 dually. The last trip I took (before Ottomind) I got 17.3 hand calculated were as the DIC said 16.9. :D

Took my truck to work yesterday. Scangauge said I got 22.2 going and 21.6 returning. My last fill was in Feb. but have added 15 gallons to this tank recently. Still about 1/2 the fuel is winter blend. Average for this tank is 19.9
Scangauge has been very accurate all winter, and I always hand calculate when I top it off. Hate to not drive it much but the ol beater car gets me 29 mpg to do the same trip.(2000 Breeze)Hope you guys get some good results!
keep posting  l8r bb

Got 18.2 on the DIC last weekend. Haven't filled it up so I haven't hand calculated it yet. Used to get 16.2 on the same trip. This is driving on Level 2. Have to try some of the other levels.

22mpg is encouraging. Just did a 900 mi trip w/ a small toy hauler 5500lbs loaded with 3 bikes in it, 2 bikes in the bed and 5 in the cab. huge head wind going out. 11.2mpg. mild tail wind coming home 14.5mpg. trip average 12.8. Hope you get better towing #`s than these. l8r bb

Were you in tow haul mode also or not. Tow haul mode is sure safer for the tranny, but really drops the mileage.

Used tow-haul to get up to speed and for the grade braking feature in the hills of Missouri but kicked it off so it would go to 6th on the superslab since our speed was 60-65

I have not towed with the ottomind yet, but I some trips with the sixgun. Let me tell you the wind factor is big pulling my fifthwheel. It is not a wind friendly model. I leave mine in tow/haul the whole time. My best mileage was 13 1/2 going between 65 & 70. I have buddy that has the same setup as me & he does what you do taking if off & on. He took the same trip & he got 15. We are both pleased with the sixgun. I have been very happy with the ottomind also.

The tow/haul feature will take longer to get into top gear. Obviously the longer it takes to get up to crusing speed the more fuel you will use because of the higher RPM. With the Ottomind you can increase the power level to get you up to speed quicker and then reduce the power back to a lower number (level 2 is the economy setting) when your crusing.

I just got back from a towing trip. Temps never went over 1200. I tried to see if I could make it really rise going up some hills. I could not. Most of the time the temperature was below 950 & I was in level 4 & 5.
