yeah I would like to see some responses to this too. I have made some and have ran it in my old 12 v cummins but have not tried it in the dmax yet. if you get the oil for free and the meth and caustic soda for a decent price it should pay off very well with the price of diesel. I just want to knw if anyone is running 100% bio in their lly and what have they ran into if any problems?

Contact Hondarider552. He has been running bio99. He can give you some good info.

My truck runs 50% of the time on a 20% bio mix (Local Shell Station). No issues and runs a little quieter when bio is present. MPG may be down just a bit, it isnt enough to worry about.

Is bio that much cheaper? I haven't seen much of it around here in Colorado - the one place I did see it (Boulder), it was like 1.75 MORE than dino diesel. I read in my owner's manual that it was OK to run B90 in my '05.

Guess it would make sense if you made your own.....

This will most likely get moved to the maintenance and fluids section. This topic has been covered their many times. search function is your friend.

rkymtnman - sure would like to see a copy of this owners manual. GM will only allow B5 (5% bio) and is in many owners manual as such.

I've been running B100 for 2 1/2 years in my LLY with no problems. It is only cheaper than dino if you home brew.

I have ran B20 from Sunoco which is usually 20 cents more than dino. The new Meijer sells B5 for only $4.12! Reg dino was going for $4.79. Both blends have been fine in my LLY. No noticable advantages of disadvantages noticed.

A few thoughts about Bio...

Bio is nearly always more expensive. If you find it cheaper than dino, count yourself one lucky guy. The only typical exception is if you brew your own. Don't know about your area, but restaurants around here are already starting to charge for their waste oil rather than give it away. So much for that...
Bio is the #1 lubricity additive per Spicer's study. I don't recall the ratio, but it's great for lubricating the engine and fuel system. Nearly everyone reports it quietens things down pretty well... and the engines love it.
Bio will clean everything... so be ready to change your fuel filter... maybe a couple of times after you switch over.
Bio doesn't produce as many mpg as dino... so though it is good for your engine, you're not going to get nearly as many mpg as with good ole dino.
The General only endorses B5... but just about every range of mix from B2 to B100 seems to work just fine. I personally have gone through several hundred gallons of B20 with no ill effects at all. The General is ultra conservative... OK, maybe paranoid.
