I was told by a friend today that mounting the EGT probe in the manifold cuases the mechanical gauges to spike when you get on the throttle and wears them out quicker....is there any truth to this? Just ordered a bullydog mech. pyro. for my truck, not sure whether to install it in the manifold or behind the turbo in the down pipe. I'm sure everyone has discussed this a million times, I apologize for asking a dumb question:) . Thanks for any insight.

That's the first time I heard that. A lot of people run them in the manifold and I haven't read anything about wearing out the guage.

I had never heard that either...this is just what he had told me. Is there any disadvantage/advantage to putting it in the manifold compared to the downpipe?
