Yesterday my add coolant message came on. Found a store to get some coolant from and just topped it up. Last night the message came on again so I dumped the remaining coolant in. Total was 4 litres. Knowing it's never gone through coolant I brought it into the dealer last night. Stopped in today because I forgot my sunglasses and noticed a nice puddle under the truck, seems to be down from the water pump. They figure it will be looked at tomorrow. I'm just wondering if the water pumps are common to die on these trucks? The truck has about 29,000 miles on it now. It wasn't overheating either while driving..
Thanks.

It is not that common but does happen. I have done several. It is covered under the warranty so no worries for you. It should not take them very long to do it if they have done them before. Far as I am concerned I would do them all day long and make good money with warranty time. I think they give around 3.0 to do the job.

Whoa Chris...Hope its just the pump. Were you able to check if the upper collant hose was rock hard before opening the o/flow?
Whats your schedule like? I'm back in town for the weekend.

Thanks for the info. Never really noticed Kerry. It wasn't collapsed. Didn't notice if it was hard though. I notice the truck isn't in the parking lot so it's either inside or someone wanted it for the night. :p:
Working dayshift all weekend. You off Monday?

OK well, they looked at it Friday and apparently couldn't find the leak. They added something and told me to drive it till maybe thursday or so. Didn't give me coolant to add once it's low either. I had someone pick it up friday since I was working. I get home and look under the truck, sure enough nice wet spot can be seen. Saturday I drove the truck to my buddies place and we checked since it was such a drip. Found a heater hose from the heater core that goes beside the engine, down beside the intake filter that crosses over to the drivers side coolant pipe. It seems to be leaking where it goes through a clamp. So I then put some tape on the hose so they will know where to look and I will drop it off tomorrow night. Not very impressed right now, also need to bill the dealer for my time and my buddies since we had to do their job. :D
