Has anyone purchased Banks intercooler only for the LB7? Can you tell a difference? How much (price)?

I just called them about it this morning. The LLY is $1297. They say it helps reduce EGTs. Waiting on the PDFs to arrive to give me more information and installation instructions.

Got the PDFs. Installation is estimated at 4 hours. You basically have to disassemble the front end and trim some brackets to make it fit. No pics on size difference and I could not find it on the web page. I sent an email back to the contact because I got a flyer from them that states "Call NOW for Special Introductory Pricing".

Nothing special about $1297. Unless he meant $12.97, but I doubt it!

I think they're mostly trying to pimp their Six Gun. The price on that is $2016 with the Technicooler. I'd rather have twins!

I called this morning as well......they are morons:cookoo: . The guy quoted me a price similar to that. He asked me what all that I have done to my dmax, I told him. I also said that I can't do alot with my truck, because I don't have a built tranny. He said the allison is one tough tranny and :lying: what sets Banks apart from the compitition, is their safety features.:lying: You can run +155hp over with no problems. :lying: We haven't had any problems with the tranny slipping.-:t ):h

Hey guys, I am going in this week to have Banks Big Boss Bundle intalled on my Duramax. I wished I would have read these threads sooner. I feel I am being taken :iamwithst . I wsa told the inter-cooler will give me ~45 ft/lbs more torques at the bottom end (~18k RMPS). Since I am more concerned about towing vs racing the heavy beast, I opted to have it installed.

YES! it hit hard on the pocket book  . Call me an idiot, better yet, let me call myself an idiot :ro) . I made the original deal without the inter-cooler, perhaps I will try and cancel that install. I will let you guys know if it happens or not.

The Diesel Place is the BOMB! Thanks for all the great info and participation everyone gives.

Banks is not bad, but sometimes manufacturers take the 'ideal scenario' for their published gains... it is not an uncommon practice.
The new CAC might benefit those running high boost IF the stock Chargecooler has plastic end tanks... then that might be the only solution, or ordering/ getting an 04 CAC with the aluminum tanks.

Haulin Doubles,
I wouldn't feel stupid. I like their stuff because its all engineered to work together. It seems that sometimes they make some silly claims, but that's just sales people in every industry.
But that price tag for the CAC is WAY out there. :drop_mout

Haulin Doubles,

I did the same thing as you did. Went and bought the 6-gun bundle, thought everything was good. Then i found this place:cool: My good feelings were turned to WTF have i just done! If the kit wasnt allready sitting in the garage i would have turned it around. Long story short, I too bought the kit for towing,a nd thats what Banks is for. Nothing more, nothing less! To date im happy with what ive bought. Im still waiting to pull my trailer with it though. Mabey next time im home ill hook her up n try it out. Most guys here that have the Banks kits use them for towing and r happy with what Banks offers.
