: Anyone in the market for a 1 ton dually rolling chasis?
Dave12 05-13-2008, 03:50 PM I still don't know what is wrong with my truck, the mechanic hasn't pulled the head yet so I'm continuing to explore my options.
I've just discovered that a guy around the corner from me is selling a 1997 GMC Sierra Ext Cab 1 ton dually 2wd. Truck has 189,000 miles on it. The truck is from Texas and apparently has no rush. I'm considering buying the truck for the motor and selling the rolling chasis. I'm just wondering if there is any market for it and how much I might get.
I've attached a pic of the truck from the ad. It's a basic model with bench seat, AC and Cruise. No other power options.

phantom 309 05-13-2008, 05:04 PM what do you think its worth without a motor,..
gmctd 05-13-2008, 05:21 PM You could pick one up here, running on it's last legs, fer ~2500bucks - seen several that a FSD and vac system or TM would perk up enuff to merit timing chain-set, injectors, and IP - but still hi-mileage, which scares non-Diesel people off
phantom 309 05-13-2008, 05:28 PM something about non relevant experiences relating to a totally unique etc,.. texas is hardly ontario,.might as well have matuva weigh in ,.don't you have a dodge forum to go chat on?
WhiteK2500 05-13-2008, 05:46 PM I bought mine as a rolling chassis with the engine in peices, 4K, but I had the engine still...
VW_Lupo_TD 05-13-2008, 11:18 PM if you part out i will pick up the dually rear axle and the cheeks :-)

I don't think I'd part it out to that extent. The neighbours wouldn't be too happy with me having a stipped down truck sitting in the driveway. :)

FilmAt11 05-14-2008, 04:27 AM Is there a nv4500 on board?
Without that trans, the value of the truck is about $1500 in these parts.

I believe it's an auto. I think it would be worth more locally. Vehicle prices in general are less expensive in the US vs. Canada.

WhiteK2500 05-15-2008, 08:24 AM I already took the 6.2 engine off your hands man, and I don't have a trailer or tow bar :D
If it has the 4L80-E I might find cash for it ;)
Lol I'll end up having enough parts to build a 2nd truck out of spare parts if I hang around you long enough Dave
IamDave0887 05-15-2008, 10:05 AM i'm in the market as long as someone else is buying. :D:rolleyes: i'd love a dually but with the way people drive up here i'll never find a darn parking space. why is it that i can fit my truck into one spot but your honda civic needs 3?

jbsaxman 05-15-2008, 09:19 PM I thought that was an odd spot for a speed bump.
:D
Dave12 05-15-2008, 11:06 PM I went and looked at the truck today. It was in a little bit rougher shape then the seller had indicated. It would make a great work truck but would need a little work to be a daily driver. The passenger's side was a little scraped up from a few close incounters in stationary objects. The fender flare had a nice scrap and hole in it that would require a little patch work.
The engine seemed pretty decent and it ran nice despite having a faullt somewhere in the vacuum system. The wg arm was easily moved with engine running.
Anyway I'm going to be passing on this one but if someone is looking for a decent work truck for $5000 let me know and I can put you in touch with the seller.
