I've been running the Predator in my '05 Sierra for about a 1000 miles. Had it at the 65hp level for awhile and then went for the 85. Very good performance but it was noticeable louder than stock, I guess you can say that it sounded like a diesel :) I'm going to be alot of towing in the near future. I picked my trailer up from the house and brought it down to my work last week. I turned the corner after I hooked up and remembered that tune isn't designed for towing. The trailer was empty so I just took it easy (no problems). That night I took out the Predator's tune and bumped my Edge from 0 to the 75hp setting. Drove the truck this weekend and noticeable how quiet it was. I could really hear the motor if I rolled into it with the Predator but the Edge is so quiet. It was also like driving a car. I'm going to do some performance testing next time out to see how it compares to the 85hp setting with the Predator.

Any problems with the LLY Edge? Seems some people have good luck with them and other don't. Can't explain it. I really like the design of their product, but couldn't get it to run very well on my truck. Mostly shifting/barking issues.

No problems yet. I like being able to change to a different power level in seconds. This will be a big benefit while towing.

Your Allison is designed for smooth operation at 600ftlb of torque at the crankshaft. The clutches in the trans and the torque convertor (locking convertor) have the right amount of slip and grip at that power level.

The Allison is a "smart" transmission. It "learns" the way you drive and how much power the motor puts out. It even protects itself from serious damage by detuning the engine when it sees the clutches starting to fail. This is our problem. We want to run 1000ftlb at the crank or higher to get our "fix" of excessive acceleration. At roughly 800ftlb at the crank, slipping will start, and when it gets bad enough, the trans protects itself by going into "limp home" mode. This allows you to safely get to the next stop area when you have slipped the trans too much.

The fix? Increasing the holding capacity of the clutches through increased surface area and applied pressure usually.

I run my edge on level 4 and my predator on the 65 tune. This seemed to really wake my truck up. My truck was a real piece of junk before. I liked the on board quages with Edge and the code reading potentials of the predator. So like everything else I had to have both.

You preech the truth! It's to addicting though. I'd want to keep shooting up 100hp and then more and more :)
