Just to bring everyone up to speed... I brought my 2004 LLY in for a reflash and the technician could not reflash the ECM because it would not accept programming. Well I was talking with the shop foreman and after two days of diagnosing it was ... the after market DVD system that was installed. My truck does not have Onstar so The guys who did the install used the Auxillary input of the Factory 6 Disc changer to get the DVD to play through the truck. Well that connection apparently is connected to the Can-bus data system of the truck. The ECM, BCM, and other computers in the truck detected this Alpine DVD player but could not recognize it. This apparently caused all the programmable computers to go into some kind of lock mode were they would not accept any programing. The technician unplugged the DVD and was able to reflash everthing just fine and when he reconnected it he ran into the same 'locked' situation. So if any one out there is planning a mod like this use the FM modulator instead of trying to hard wire into the factory deck.

So how do you like them apples?

I still like the data interfaces. I will just unplug mine before getting it reflashed.

The problem is not with the truck but with the aftermarket unit not understanding how to work on the buss correctly. There are requirement on comunications on the buss and the aftermarket radio guys are not following them, this is what causes the problems. So if you can simply unplug the aftermarket unit from the buss it will cure the problem until they get around to fixing the problem in there units.

Truck runs real smooth. And the power is not increased it is just more responsive... almost to the point that it took a half hour or so to learn how the truck was behaving differently.
