Just got done installing this system and I'm not too impressed with how the super scoop lined ip with the plastic piece under the bumper. It seems like it is too far forward , I could only get 3 out of the 4 push-in clips to work. I can't move it back at all because it would rub the tire. The Ram Air intake went in good otherwise and gained 2 mpg , and a little more whistle from the turbo. Just want to know if anyone else had this problem and if you have any suggestions for me. Thanks.

I had somewhat the same problem with mine also. can only get 3 out of the 4 pins in. but mine was because it wouldn't sit high up enough to hit the valance in the first place.and I couldn't move it forward enough for my liking.

Mine fit really well. I installed the push-locs first, then tightened the rest up. I don't have their CAI though, maybe that is the difference.

Just installed mine two days ago. My only issue (Albert from Banks told me before I bought it, so I did this knowingly) is that I have 35"'s and I have had to fabricate a piece to fill in where I had to cut. I have already noticed a change in the mpg. I set the cruise and it takes a bit for the range to count down. I have good notes on the before install miles to a tank, starting new ones now. Did the PCV re route as well, so hope they both make a trip to the pump take another day or two. As far as the clips go, I did not use them becasue I had to push it as far forward as I could so I decreased the rub, so I used a nut and bolt combo. Seems to be working ok.

Mine work great also, but I did the same as Rob.

Do you have the stock tires and rims on?

Where did you find the scoop for an 01? I have an 02 and they told me it was not available yet.

We don't have one for the 01 yet but the 03 and up models will fit though your going to have to modify it slightly because the air dams are a little different on the 01/02 trucks. Also the scoops are mfg. specific, in other words, GMC and Chevy trucks have different scoops.

That's why it don't fit right then? They also were manufatured for the stock rims and tires then too?

I think up to 33 are fine. Yeah, if you have the 01 you need to do the melting trip or trimming.

I'm running 265/75/16's and I only have enough room for my pinky between the scoop and my tire when turned to the left. Just enough room. Might be able to put more room in there if I put a lift on it. Might do a 7-9 cognito lift after I get moved back to alaska.

Do you rub at all? I want to get 265 instead of the 245, when I need them. There was a guy on here that said 33" fix with a lift. I seam to remember he did something to help fit. Maybe he will chim in.

No rub at all. It only gets to within a pinky's worth of the scoop at any given place when I turn the wheel. But I do have a leveling kit on the truck. was there when I bought it. at least that is what the salesman told me.

That's right, you have an 01 but the scoop is for an 03 and up. These were designed around the stock wheels and tires and stock truck height. Obviously with the THOUSANDS of possible lift/wheel/tire/backspacing combinations out there it's just not possible to test on all of them.

The tire does rub it a bit but not bad. It just looks goofy cause it sticks out the front so far.

I have a before and after picture in my garage. I don't have the scoop cause its not made for my truck yet. install took me about 45 minutes.

Trace it with the bumper & cut it off flush.

I will eventually. I am also going to bolt it instead of using the clips.

I was worried about the clips at first, but let me tell you it is still very tight & the wife plowed through a snow bank this year & it held on.

I wasn't happy with the fit on mine either. IMO the thing could be made more compact and have the same hp benefits.

Speaking of plowing through a snow bank, wouldn't that plug it up and it get no air, or does the box itself have other openings?

It has openings on the rear of the scoop as well so you can't suck up critters and such.

It also has the side opening on the top, unless you put in the blocker plate. Yeah, it is a really sweet design. I thought for sure it would have been packed with snow, but no. I am glad it is made of such a thick plastic also...

Yeah , I think the Volant scoop looks much smaller and compact but haven't heard anything about it. I think Banks being the company that they are should have took some more time on the engineering part of this product or put some hints in the manual about mods for 01 and 02 trucks.

Well they should have designed it around more than just a stock truck. I mean if people wanted to keep their truck's stock, they wouldn't be modding them with crap.

Espessially the tire sizes. I only have 265's and it is rubbing a little and I even cranked the t-bars up a little.

I got to looking under the hood on my 02. I can't imagine trying to fish the scoop down between the lights and the air box. Looks like some metal would have to be cut. Not sure I'm going to go this route with 285's on!

The scoop comes up from the bottom, I didn't have to cut any metal just the scoop so the a/c sensor would clear it. And it also comes with a bracket to relocate the horn.

I have 285's on my truck and had to modify the scoop to fit. I took a heat gun and a pipe about 3" in diameter to indent the front side of the scoop where it was in contact with the front bumper bracket. This allowed me to move it far enough forward not to rub. The plastic if very thick so some time and patience are required. Of course after doing so, it stuck out and looked funny in front so I trimmed it flush with the contour of the valance under the bumper and re-drilled the holes to use the supplied push pins. I also have the factory 3" air dam and had to trim that as well to fit around the scoop. There's a pic or two in my garage.

Sounds like a good idea! I just took mine off and trimmed it this weekend and i used stainless bolts and locknuts instead of push pins. Looks way better now. I always say "If you don't like it, modify it". I will put somes pics in my garage.
