I have been saving to purchase a Van Aaken box, but the more I read about the Predator the more it makes since. I know some of you with hand shakers are using the predator and I would like your feedback.

I want to make sure the throttle is not too touchy. The truck can start bucking pretty easy on its own without any help from a tuner!!!

Has anyone had any problems with returning their program back to stock? I hear these horror stories every now and then, but it don't recall it ever happening with the Predator.

I have a 33' 5th wheel (weighs about 10.5k pounds) and curious what the EGTs look like when towing on the 40 and 65 HP tune?

If driven "normally" what impact does the 40 and 65 HP tunes have on economy???

Looking forward to your responses.

Thanks,

MaxRock

I had fits with getting a tune that was smooth. They eventually made me a custom one after I betched for a few days.......Its a <40 HP, and even not towing, Ive seen temps real close to 1200*+, and towing, several times Ive had to drop a gear or let up to keep temps under control.

There is no way I would ever drive the truck the way the tune was, BTW it was only a 40 hp tune, I tried the higher tunes, and they were way worse.

If you are driving normally (not towing) economy keeps pretty close to stock. Maybe a tad higher.

Ide like to hear from someone with a VA in their 6 speeder.

There's a gentleman that goes by the Name of Gray Max with an '03 running a VA box with a handshaker. Maybe he'll chime in or you can PM him. I've corresponded with him and he seem very happy with his setup.

I have the 125 hp 325tq edge with attitude on my six speed and it dosen't act funny or touchy at all. I don't like towing over 8-10000 lbs with it on level one though because it sounds like the flywheel is just wanting to do something. Power is awsome I think and I dynoed at sheid last year and on level 5 I had 410 hp and 811 ft lb at the wheels. I'm pleased with it, and on levels 1 and 2 which is all I drive on it doesn't hurt fuel milage but I do have a lead foot.

I had a predator on my 01 and thought it was fine, it was a 6 gear, throttle is touchy in the higher settings but it was great pulling a 30 ft gooser with 6 sleds until it slipped the clutch on the first big hill. that was on the 40 hp setting. If you play alot in the higher settings the clutch just gets weaker and weaker.

I like the VA because of being able to go from a stock program to 200+ with the flip of a switch. You've got PM Max Rock
