I bought an 02 GMC 2500HD. It has heated mirrors (they have the heat wave symbol) but I am not sure if they work or not. Is the heat wave symbol supposed to light up if they are working or will I have to feel them get warm to tell if they are working?

Wave symbol doesn't light. Switch is controlled by the rear defog switch. Don't know if feeling them would work, might not be hot enough. I've "tested" mine when the truck was wet from rain....turned them on the the mirrors dried pretty quick.

I always thought it'd be cool if that heat symbol turned amber or red but it doesn't. My TTT mirrors you can feel them get warm to the touch if you turn them on.

My 03 GMC has heated mirrors but has no wave symbol on the mirrors like it is supposed to. I have always wondered if I actually have them or not. Did they quit using the symbol?
My '04's did not have the little symbol either; now have TTT's and all is well.

GM stopped putting the heat symbol on the mirrors.

Well, turns out my LH mirror was not working and the RH would get a little warm to the touch. Had the truck in getting steering box leak repaired and told the girl about the mirrors. Got the truck back today and they replaced BOTH mirrors :D . But I have noticed the mirrors they replaced with do not have the heat wave symbol on them. I know it doesn't reallly matter, but I wish they had the symbols as the 02 heated mirror is supposed to, yeah I'm picky like that. Also, the "Objects in Mirror....." text on RH mirror looks bigger than the orig mirrors.
