Hi Guys/Gals,

New to this board and I wanted to say hi and that I am impressed with all the info.

With that being said, can you all give me some help? :help2: I would like to know what you would recommend for performance mods on my bone stock 03 2500HD Diesel? (With the exception of a K&N air-filter)

I would like to keep the investment under a $1,000 if possiable. Looking for the best bang for the buck with-out using pro-pane or nitrous. Not looking for balls to wall performance as of yet. Just a nice improvement over what I have know with-out having to worry about the transmission.

Thanks,
Dennis

Oh yea, if this helps I do NOT have a Cat. Converter on this truck.

I think the majority here recommend the Edge juice/Attitude for the LB7 trucks. You get adjustable on the fly power, trans. slip detection, EGT backdown, and built in gauges. Add a Trippin overhead mount from socaldiesel.com and you will be well on your way to the dark side. :driver:
On edit: Check the vendor forum for deals on the Edge. They had some awesome deals awhile back.

Depends on what you are planning to do with the truck in the future, in my opinion.....Once you tap into the power that's available through the aftermarket, it's much like any other addiction...You want more...and more..and more....If you think you're going to be happy with a modest increase in horsepower, I'd suggest going with a flash tuner such as the predator...Not only do you get a few different programs to try, but you can also read codes with them as well..(Handy when the check engine light comes on).....
Since you have an LB7, the edge juice is also very popular....The plus side to it is the transmission protection, the down side is you get no engine diagnosis....
Welcome aboard....:)

I have a couple of Predators and love them, but you can't beat the Edge on the LB7. The tranny protection feature has probrably saved me an Allison or two. You can also just put the Edge box on first. Play with it a little and then add the Attitude. Have some more fun and then the 4" exhaust. After a while you modify the Allison, then you stack the Predator, then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Oh yeah, I hope you have a friend in the tire business.

Thanks for the replys:thankyou2

Where exactley can I get this "Edge" and what is th average price.

At what HP level should I hold the power to before having to worry about the transmission?

Any Transmission up grades that can be done with-out removing the trans to hold up to the additional powerlevel??

What is ment when someone says they swiss-cheesed up the air-box or modified it?

There was a sale awhile back and I think the Edge/Attitude combo was around 650.

There are no worthwhile trans upgrades that can be done without pulling the ally.

Swisscheesing the airbox is when you cut holes in the front of the airbox to let more air in. Do a search for it, or pm member Ratlover, he has done this to his Dmax. He is really helpful.

As I said check with supporting vendors on here, and purchase from them if you can. Kennedy Diesel, Mark Craig (DPPI), John @DPS, etc. Most will match prices, and have great customer service.

I forgot one of your q's... Most say no more than 90 horsepower overstock for a stock ally. I believe that would be somewhere around level 4 for the Juice/Attitude. And I think it is the top level for the non-attitue reg. Juice.

Kennedy's site has a great write up on the air box mods. Check the vendor forum for prices on the Edge.

I just put on The Edge/Attitude this sat and it is great. I got mine for Mark at DPPI. I was going to get gauges first and then a Predator later, but the Edge was a better deal. If you got a boost and pyro gauge with a pod, your looking at $250 easy and there is some work into hooking them all up. Once I got a programmer, I'd have to pull over to change tunes and what not. I pull a 2 different size boats and drive the truck around town, so to have someting to change on the fly made sense for me. That is why I ended up with the Edge. With the Attitude Monitor you can view 4 of 10 different funtions of the truck along with a bunch of other cool stuff. The saftey features it has are nice too. It took 8 minutes to install the Edge/***. with the A-pillar mount and another 45 to do the EGT probe. I'm not one looking to beat a vette, just a bit more power. I played around on level 3 for a bit sat, then put it on level 1 on my trip up north for the economy. Still had more power than stock, with 2 mpg better on avg.

Mark was great to work with. We had a problem with the paint to match my dash. My sticker says I have dark pewter interior so that is what I ordered. The problem was the dark pewter in leather is really graphite and in cloth is light grey. He had the right color to me in less than two days.

Quick question to all...... The saftey features of the Edge for the Trans...... I have it set to defuel all shifts, but does it do everything else on it's own?

You can change were you want it to defule based on EGT's also. With it set to 90 hp I wouldnt worry about the EGT's you hit unloaded, even the 125 is egt safe since the only time it will go over that is when doing a hard throttle run. IMO you dont want to be towing on a stock ally with it set to 90 or 125 anywho, if you do I would then try to keep a close eye on the egt's and depending on your comfort level move the EGT limiter around.

Edit: the egt limiter is also a deccent "vallet" mode since even if they turn up the box to kill it will still start pulling fuel out quickly if you lower the egt back down down a ways;)
