Came home from a 400 mile trip loaded one way, got home and was sitting there doing my normal 30 second cool down but today there was a very loud clattering noise coming from the exhaust pipe, thought it was my fan but let truck sit, went run errands and when i got back probably 45 minutes, I restarted truck and no noise. this was alot louder than the normal turbo noise is usally, could this have been the fan and if so why so loud or is there another fan i should know about ????????
also it did not make this noise at any traffic lights just when i got home.

Check where the exhaust crosses over the Trans. cross-member.

I've heard of this too, I think this is a good guess.

I believe mine is doing the samething, I have noticed it has progressively gotten worst. What exactly I'm I looking for? A loose bracket or something?

Well first check to see if that is where it is hitting. I have the MBRP 5" so can't really remember where the split on the stock exhaust is located. I believe it is close to that location. This would be where the Cat and tail pipe are connected.
-Your best bet is to get under the truck and start trying to wiggle/move things.

Well in my case I had about 1/2 to 3/4 inch between the crossmember and the pipe. I could drive it all day long and no noise. But when I would shut it down I would get that bang, bang or rattle sound.( I could not duplicate this by hand either) I guess this is from the movement the motor when it shuts down. While running it is balanced, but when you shut it down and the RPM's of the rotating mass reach a point it just become unbalanced and this results in excess movement. And the exhaust then moves with the motor.
Then again I don't build motors for a living, just something I have noticed.
I get the same thing from all my small engine equipment. When I shut down a saw, line trimmer, I get that shut down torque or engine shutter.
